Narrator POV:
Rosemary was short and petite, much like Victoria was. She also had naturally brown hair and dark blue eyes, much like the depths of the ocean. When Rose had met Victoria, she had long brown hair with a blond ombré. She would eventually cut it to shoulder length just before an upcoming dance. Rose had slightly chiseled cheekbones and a heart shaped face. She was average in all ways except for her athleticism that was heightened from years of playing various sports.
Rose was the town's softball star throughout most of high school, though she would disagree as she would soon grow to despise the sport, but that’s a story for another time. Rosemary was the eldest child in her family. She had two younger sisters and one younger brother. The children were named Grace, Matthew, and Elizabeth. They were all at least 4 yrs younger than her, which left her alone when she wanted to play and hang out with her siblings.
Unlike Victoria, Rose had never really been bullied in school, she of course had a few instances where someone was mean or made her uncomfortable but nobody was ever out to get her. She was weird, or at least considered weird. She enjoyed things like Star Wars, Dungeons and Dragons, and Lord of the Rings. She also was huge into different fandoms and constantly read fan fiction, which led her to spreading most of her time alone in her room where she could allow her imagination to run wild.
Rosemary had spent her childhood spending time with her grandparents while her parents Michelle and Luke worked. She spent a lot of time lonely and that itself was where her depression had come from. Victoria and Rose bonded over their similar mental states that night Rose was invited to dinner. That night began at Victoria’s house and ended at the park. When they had finished their dinners they decided to walk to the town park that was just across the street, in between the bowling alley and the house, they sat in the tiny gazebo that parents frequented whilst their children played.
That was the night Victoria opened up to Rose. She told her everything, how she was bullied, how she developed an eating disorder, and just about everything that had happened in her life leading up to that very moment. Victoria probably assumed that Rose thought she was crazy, but in reality Rose was just taken aback. She hadn’t expected anyone to ever open up to her like that, especially since they really had just met and it was their first time truly hanging out other than in school. The night in that gazebo was the match that ignited their friendship, and though it took a bit to catch it eventually would be their junior summer. The most eventful summer of their young lives.
