Bakugo wasn't sure how, but he had ended up hiding behind a wall, eavesdropping on a rather interesting conversation.
Well, he told himself that he didn't know how, but in reality he was following Deku and Y/n during the recreation time before the third round of the UA Sports Festival.
He was now leaning on a wall, listening in on a conversation between his two childhood friends and Todoroki.

"Are you All Might's secret love child?" he heared half and half ask. This was answered with Y/n laughing out loud, her weird laugh reaching Bakugo's ears clearly. He felt his heart skip a beat at the thought of her smiling face.
Somehow, the fact that Y/n wouldn't back out on their weird friendship even though he treated her badly would make the boisterous teen feel warm. It was something about her seeing more to him than his anger and his horrible temper.
He rejected these warm and fuzzy feelings whenever he would get them, and luckily for him, he was great at hiding what he was really feeling through his animated and aggressive exterior. But it was hard to reject the constant images of the girl with the not so hero-like quirk popping up in his head when he least expected it.

Y/n looked between Izuku and Todoroki. She felt like the third wheel in this, like she wasn't supposed to be here, but somehow, she had gotten dragged in to it. The air around them was pretty tense and Shoto and Izuku were having some kind of a stare-off. But it didn't last long.

"My old man, Endeavour" Shoto started "has always been stuck as the number two hero, just behind All Might. When he realised he wouldn't be able to surpass him, he decided to go for the next best thing. However to do so, he had to stoop very low" he explained.
Y/n questioningly looked over at the boy with the bi-coloired hair in front of her. She wasn't sure where he was going with this.

"I'm sure you've heared of quirk marriages, that's what he had with my mother. He convinced her family to marry them thanks to his fame and his money" Shoto continued. He looked down to the ground, his hand clenching and unclenching as he observed it, deep in thought. Y/n and Izuku looked at eachother, unsure about what to say or what to do.

"He drove her insane, it was so bad she went temporarily insane. She poured the boiling water in the kettle on me" he spoke, through gritted teeth.
Y/n didn't know what to expect, but this was definitely not it. She had many times thought about how he had gotten his scar, but never would she have imagined something like that.

Shoto...

The tears were difficult to keep back as she imagined a small, five year old Todoroki being permanently scarred by his own mother. It was horrible.
Her hands tingled at the scenes that started popping in her head.
Y/n looked up and stared in to Shoto's eyes. It was barely noticeable, but a light veil of tears glossed over his vision. But she noticed.
Todoroki watched as the girl in front of him took a few steps forward before pulling him by his arms into her. Her head rested on his shoulder as she held him. She was holding him in a way he was no longer used to being held in.

She's so warm

His arms were stuck in her embrace and when he tried to move them to embrace her, she shook her head.

"Let me hold you" she whispered. Shoto's eyes widened for a second, her words processing in his head. It took a few seconds but he eventually relaxed in her embrace and hung his head, enjoying the moment for what it was. Until now he thought he was over all of this, over the whole idea of needing other people. He felt something in him click in this moment, all the years of numbness and apathy rushing back to him as he finally felt the warmth he had longed for unconsciously.
Y/n eventually moved her arms away from the boy, taking a step back. She sniffled, raising her hand to his face and softly running her thumb on the edge of his scar, a small smile on her face.
