"What are you doing here?" Shadowshifter asked her mate, Moonreaper.

"I had to see you one last time!" he yelled through the howling winds of the icy north. "Besides" he said "I found a place for our eggs."

Shadowshifter smiled, but then she got the idea "not her

"She's our only hope, our eggs will die if not"

"Fine" Shadowshifter said reluctantly. The two nightwings gathered up their last two surviving eggs and flew further north until they reached a cave with a mother Ice-wing inside. She was curled around her egg, it was half black and half white, nothing like an Ice-wing egg.

"Hello, Arctic-wolf" Moonreaper said, the ice-wing looked up and smiled

"Moonreaper" she said "what have you come for?"

"Queen Blister has started the war, our queen needs all their nightwings back, we need a safe place for our eggs" Moonreaper told her.

"You mean, I'll never see you again?" Arctic Wolf asked

"I'm afraid so" he said. Tears filled Arctic Wolf's eyes

"You can't leave me here" she cried "all alone... you're my mate!" Anger filled Shadowshifter's eyes, she had been awkwardly listening to their conversation, not knowing what to say.

"I'm his mate you little...!" She yelled, tackling Arctic Wolf

"We can't end this in fighting, we have to leave in peace!" Moonreaper yelled, pulling the two dragons away. "We must leave now." He said calmly, but sadness filled his words. The ice-wing and the nightwing nuzzled, the nightwings spread their wings, and Arctic Wolf grabbed one of his wings in her gentle talons.

"Send me a vision, alright?" She said, then sadly let go.

As the two nightwings flew back south, they heard the sad, mournful cry of the ice-wing, sadly saying goodbye.
