Lucy POV

Today I will start working at the Fernandez Firm.

The only public law firm in Magnolia. It was started three years ago by Jellal Fernandez a super young and famous lawyer known for winning a string of child kidnapping and enslavement cases that took place almost 20 years ago. Almost all the children taken were orphans. No one listened to their stories until solid evidence was found against the culprits. Now Mr. Fernandez works to help those who are often ignored left to suffer in silence. Mr. Fernandez is also a graduate of Fiore National University which is why I was able to get a job at his firm.

I make my way through the big double doors and walk towards the receptionist's desk.

"Good Morning Ms. Meredy my name is Lucy Heartfilia, I'm Mr. Fernandez's new secretary"

"Oh, great you're here ten minutes early, Mr. Fernandez already left you a task to complete, you better get going"

"Umm ok"

She passes me a note that says

"Welcome Lucy, hope you're getting this early. Before you make your way up to the office would you get me a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese and a large hazelnut cappuccino with almond milk from the coffee shop around the corner. If you get there before eight you may be able to avoid the line. Then come upstairs to my office so we can talk a bit about your position here at the firm. Thanks"

I look down at my watch and see that it's 7:55, I run out of the office in hopes of making it to the coffee shop before eight. As soon as my foot is through the door, I feel a bunch of people come in behind me. I make sure to walk fast so no one gets ahead of me. After I place my order at exactly 8:05, I see the giant line of people in the coffee shop. The coffee must be amazing for so many people to come here.

"Order 101"

"Yes, that's me"

I tuck the receipt into my trench coat and grab the two coffees and bag with the bagel and a chocolate chip muffin for me.

I make my way back to the office, through the double doors, and passed Meredy to the elevator.

"Nice time," says Meredy from her desk.

"Thanks," I said as I made my way into the elevator.

Guess no one ever been fast enough. I glance at my watch to see that it just turned 8:14. I stepped out of the elevator on the second floor and looked into the mirror next to it making sure I still looked presentable. Other than my slightly disheveled bangs I looked as good as I did when I left my apartment this morning.

I walk to the office that says Fernandez on the door and knocked.

"Ahh, Welcome Ms. Heartfilia you made it just on time," said Mr. Fernandez as he opens the door for me.

"Happy I made it," I said as I walked in.

"Me too, I usually fire those who can't make it by 8:15," he said with a serious expression

"Really," I said in disbelief

"No, I've just always wanted to say that, please have a seat Ms. Heartfilia," he says with a little laugh.

Still, in a bit of shock, I take a seat in front of his desk and begin to sort the bags.

"Here is your hazelnut cappuccino with almond milk, and your toasted everything bagel with cream cheese"

"Great thanks" he grabs the coffee and the bagel and begins to eat.

"Nothing better than coffee in the morning"

I took a sip of the caramel latte I got for myself.

"Delicious"

"I know right they make the best coffee in town"

"No wonder it gets so packed in the morning" I continue drinking my latte and taking bites of my chocolate chip muffin.

"Now shall we get down to business Ms. Heartfilia"

"Please call me Lucy and yes"

"Ok Lucy, then please call me Jellal. Today you're going to start as my secretary. I was thinking that you could do this job for a couple of months before giving you cases to work on alone. That way you could get to know the office and get comfortable here."

"Yes, that makes sense"

"Great then your duties will include taking phone calls, setting up appointments with clients, organizing, creating, and updating case files, as well as doing odd jobs here and there. As you know the firm is small, so everyone needs to help out with the little mundane task"

"Yes of course"

"Alright so I'll give you a quick tour and you can start working"

By now we have already finished our breakfast, I grab my purse and trash as we walk out of Jellal's office. We walk to the kitchen, there is a fridge, a microwave, and several cupboards. Jellal tells me that I can store anything here if I put my name on it. Next, we walk past some offices that belong to other lawyers and paralegals, as well as the conference room. Then it's the archive room, the supply room, and the bathrooms. We make our way back around toward Jellal's office to find mine that is right next door.

"Well that's the end of our tour, make yourself comfortable, I left my current schedule and a couple of other things that need to get done today. There will be a meeting at 11:30 to discuss the rest of the week you'll be taking the minutes. If you need any help just let me know, and I'll probably take lunch around 1. See you later"

"Ok, Thanks"

Jellal leaves me to get settled in my new office. It's not too big, but big enough to feel comfy. My desk had a computer, a phone, and some papers and files. There is a calendar with a corkboard behind it, a window next to that, and a small closet for my coat next to that. I walk over and open the closet I hang up my coat and place my bag on the hook. I fish out my phone and see that it is 8:45. On my desk, I find papers with information on my computer, printer, Jellal's schedule, and a list of tasks for the day.

Today is only the beginning, from here on out I'm working towards my goal, and nothing will stop me from reaching it.
