Chapter 2

Lucy POV

11:15 am

It's been 2 hours since I started my new job and I have already taken 4 calls, made 3 appointments, entered 2 pages worth of data, and created 2 new files. Half of the to-do list that Jellal gave me is complete. What a great start on my first day.

I must inform Jellal of the additions to his schedule and take the copies I made to the archive room.

"ring, ring"

"Fernandez Firm how may I help you"

"Great response Lucy"

"Oh, Jellal great timing I wanted to let you know that your 4 o'clock is coming at 3 and that your 4:30 had to reschedule for next week. Another client also called asking if they could move up the meeting, that it was urgent, so I made space for them at 2."

"Wow, that is a lot, and it's only been two hours. I just to remind you that I want you to introduce yourself to the rest of the office at our meeting, I will also be adding a bit to your responsibilities, I may have forgotten a couple of things. Oh, and I wanted to know if you had wanted to have lunch with me and someone, I would like you to meet."

"I wouldn't mind lunch and I do remember that about the meeting"

"Great and don't forget about the tablet to take the meeting minutes"

"Yes, of course"

"Alright I'll see you in 7" he hangs up, I look at the computer screen it's 11:23. I have seven minutes to put away the documents and get to the meeting. I jump out of my chair to grab the tablet and the documents.

I left my office and made my way to the archive room. When I walk in someone is already there.

She notices my presence and looks up.

"Oh, you must be the new girl"

"That I am, my name is Lucy"

"Ultear"

"I was hoping to put these away before our meeting in 4 minutes"

"Well have fun with that," she said as she walked out of the room. Ok, that was kind of rude, I thought she would at least try to help me.

Anyway, I quickly found where to put the files, since everything was nicely organized. I then make my way to the meeting room where I see many of my new colleagues. There is not a lot of them.

When I get into the room, I see a large table with eight chairs. Jellal and Ultear are already here plus three other people I don't know. Meredy then comes in behind me.

"Great everyone is here," said Jellal calling everyone's attention.

"First, I'd like everyone to meet our latest recruit" Jellal motioned me over toward him.

"Hello, everyone my name is Lucy I look forward to working with all of you"

"Lucy will be doing several things here at the office, including some secretarial stuff and assisting with cases. She will also be taking the minutes today. As for introductions, the woman to your left is Ultear, next to her is Midnight, at the end of the table is Richard, then Angel next to him. And Meredy who you already met. To start this meeting, I want to hear reports, starting with Ultear" Jellal sat down and Ultear stood up.

"Well so far the case against the Bureau of Magical Development has been going well, I have a meeting with some of the witnesses today and the court date has been set for next month"

"Great, what about you Midnight"

The meeting continued in this fashion, everyone gave updates on their cases and Jellal gave feedback. I wrote down as much as I could about everyone's progress. Soon enough an hour passed and Jellal dismissed everyone back to their offices, except for me and Meredy.

"So how did you feel about your first meeting"

"It was very informative"

"Now let's talk about these changes for you Lucy. I know I said that I wanted you to do secretarial things for a while, but I've found a new secretary so instead, I want you to assist me in some of these cases I'm working on. This is why I want you to go to Lunch with me.

"Wow ok, there's no problem with me" YES, I thought for sure that I would have to wait a least a couple of months before working on a case. 

"Meredy will be taking on the rest of the list I gave you for today, so please get that to her and grab your coat were leaving in five"

"Yes ok," I quickly walked out of the room with Meredy. I gave her the tablet with the notes. At my office, I gave her the list and told her what I had already done. She thanked me and left. I grabbed my coat and wallet and walked out of my office where Jellal was waiting for me.

"Let's get going we don't want to make her wait" I wonder who this her was and why we couldn't make her wait.

On our way to the diner, we held a casual conversation about nothing really. Before I knew it, we had arrived. Jellal headed for a table where a redhead was sitting, she was beautiful.

"Erza, I hope you weren't waiting long"
