"Life's, a tangled web, of cellphone calls and hashtag I don't knows"

➸➸➸➸➸➸

I walked into the coffee shop to order my usual. I sighed when I entered, the line was so long. "Just one of the perks of living in New York", I thought to myself. I brought out my phone and started to check my messages. After checking to see if I had any messages I finally put my phone down and waited. I was still the very last person in line. I thought for a couple of minutes of leaving but where else would I go? I mean I just lost everything. My family, my friends, my life. The bell behind me rang and I turned around in hopes that maybe they chased after me. But instead a blonde boy wearing a flannel walked in. I checked my pocket to make sure my wallet was still there. Thankfully it was or else I would be broke and homeless.

"Hey um do you know how long this line is gonna take" the blonde boy asked.

"Well it usually takes about 30 minutes until you actually order but today the lines a little longer" I replied. He nodded and turned away for a few seconds.

"So I'm guessing you live around here" he asked curiously. I gulped knowing I don't have a home, anymore.

"I..um..used to" I replied. I looked around the coffee shop. All the people just waiting to get coffee.

"So what's your name" he spoke up after awhile.

"Jessica" I smiled to him.

"Luke" he smiled back.

"So Luke do you live around here" I laughed. He laughed a little to as we were both trying to lighten the mood.

"I'm uh, actually on a road trip. Yeah um me and my lads are doing this thing" he said awkwardly. I laughed lightly.

"Where are you guys coming from" I asked trying not to laugh. When I'm in an awkward situation I kinda just laugh. It's weird.

"We all lived in Australia and we're just kind passing through town for the day" he said smiling.

"Ooh Australia" I said giggling. "I knew you had an accent I just didn't know where from"

"Yeah I'm running in to get us all coffee for the rest of the trip" he said. I nodded as we finally advanced up a little in the line.

"Well that's cool" I smiled back to him.

"So why are you here" he asked, trying to star up another conversation. I swallowed and shook my head. Theres no way I'm telling some random guy I just met I'm here because I'm homeless. God it would be like I'm asking for donations.

"God you think I'm a stalker now don't you" he said while I burst out laughing.

"N-No why would I think that" I stuttered in between laughs.

"Because I just randomly asked for your address" he said now laughing with me. I kept laughing and shook my head as we once again slightly moved up in the line.

"Okay you have a fair point" I said laughing. "But no I don't think your a stalker" I said.

"Well that's good" he said and I nodded in agreement.

"So what do you usually get here" he asked.

"I um don't actually come here that often but when I do usually just order some regular coffee" I said nervously. He nodded thankfully not noticing my nervousness.

"What about you, what coffee do you get" I asked while once again taking a small step in line.

"Same as you except sometimes, only if I'm in a good mood, I add caramel with it" he said smiling.
