Penelope plays Cupid. (Fluff)

Story from maydearest. I loved the idea so I rewrote it! I hope that's okay!

........................................................................................................................

The elevator doors started to close in front of me when a leather satchel flew between the doors and they slide open, revealing one Dr. Spencer Reid. He gave me his awkward "white man's" smile and waved at me as he stepped into the elevator. He asked me how my weekend was and I told him it had been fine and returned the question. The rest of the ride was quiet. I'd been with the BAU for almost a year now and every day since I joined I hadn't been able to get Reid out of my head. I'd always had a thing for quiet, dorky guys. Reid was just that, but he was also sweet, thoughtful, and had an intellect I couldn't even begin to comprehend. Just about everyone on the team knew how I felt about him except Reid. According to the team, he felt the same way but I refused to believe them and I kept him at an arm's length. The elevator doors opened and he put his arm out, signaling me to go first. I nodded and we walked into the BAU bullpen, he ran ahead of me to get to the door. I smiled and ducked under his arm and through the doorway. We had gotten there early, Hotch was the only other one there. I set my bag down at my desk and headed to the coffee maker. Reid was already there adding his two tablespoons of sugar to his coffee. I grabbed my mug from the cabinet, a custom color-changing mug that revealed a Tim Burton-style illustration of my best friend and I. I began pouring my coffee.

"Tim Burton." Reid noticed.

"Hm? Oh, yea. My best friend, Ev and I are big Burton fans and they got me this mug when I graduated."

"Your birthday is August 26th right? His birthday is-" Reid started but I cut him off.

"The 25th, Burbank, California." I laughed. "The same county I was born in too." He raised his eyebrows, stuck his bottom lip out, and nodded his head slowly, impressed. I laughed and walked away with my coffee. His desk was across from mine and we worked silently on paperwork until everyone else started showing up.

"Hey, it's Pretty Boy and New Girl." Morgan's voice ran clear through the large room and made both of us perk up. Morgan was followed by the rest of the team, JJ, Prentiss, Garcia, and Rossi. The team gathered around us to discuss our weekends. Morgan had a staycation with Savanna. JJ and Will took the boys to the aquarium. Garcia and Prentiss went to Atlantic City, while Rossi had a poker tournament with some friends from his army days.

"How about you Paisley?" Garcia's voice said, hearing my name made me look up from the pile of paperwork in front of me.

"I just stayed home, I didn't have any plans."

"Me neither," Reid added.

"You guys should have gone to Atlantic City with us. Reid, you could have won all kinds of money, and Paisley you could have gotten all dolled up with us." Emily offered.

"I'm not one for going out. Thanks though." I cringed at the thought. Reid had the same expression on his face. Everyone went to their respective desks and we all went to work, analyzing cases and finishing reports. About an hour went by before my phone chimed. It was a text from Penelope. Can you come here real quick, I wanna talk to you abt something. My brows knit together as I stood up, trying to figure what was wrong. I got to her "den" as she called it. Though most dens were cold and dark, Garcia's "den" had Christmas lights and brightly colored figurines and toys littered on every surface.

"What's up?" I asked. She pulled a small seat out from under her desk and patted it, telling me to sit down. I took the seat.

"I wanna talk about Spencer." She sighed with a large smile. I blushed.

"What's to talk about?" I sighed, not meeting her eyes.

"Tell me why you like him, what it is about him. Maybe I can set you up with someone like him." She had this smirk on her face that lowkey scared me.

"I don't know, he's just really sweet and I like how awkward he is, it does make conversation hard sometimes but we don't talk very often anyway. He's thoughtful and he really cares about his friends. I love his mind and how it works, I don't know. I think his intelligence is really attractive. Sure, he's built like a number two pencil but I love it, I like how tall he is." I found myself smiling like an idiot as I thought about him. I could have kept talking but knew better than to keep talking. I looked up and saw Garcia looked like she was about to explode.

"Ok, get out!" She yelled excitedly, she had a massive, eager grin on her face. From ear to ear. I opened the door and my heart stopped, my stomach dropped. Spencer was standing there, red faced and wide eyed. His lips pursed in a smile, he chuckled softly and looked down at me. I spun around and glared at Garcia.

"I-uh" I started, looking anywhere but at Spencer. He looked at Garcia, his face was almost grateful.

"Garcia, did you set this up," he held his phone up, "you texted me and told me to wait outside."

"Maybe. I was tired of listening to you guys complain about how much you liked each other." She gave me a little push and closed the door. Wait, does that mean he feels the same? My heart was in my throat. Spencer cleared his throat and looked at me.

"Was that all true?" He questioned. I couldn't meet his gaze.

"Depends." I started. "If you feel the same way, yes. If you don't, then no. Garcia and I pranked you." I tried to sound joking but I probably just sounded panicked. We both chuckled.

"I do. F-feel the same, I mean." He kept his face down as well.

"So what do we do now?" I laughed

"I don't know to be quite honest." We kept standing there, awkwardly. Garcia's voice came from behind the door.

"You kiss already!" Her voice was an anxious hiss. I heard my heartbeat in my ears and I thought I was gonna collapse. Spencer stepped closer and hooked his index finger under my chin and tilted my head up. Once my eyes were on him, he put his hand down. I wanted to look down or away but I didn't, I couldn't. I couldn't peel my eyes away from his. He started to move closer and so did I.

Then the thing I'd thought about way too much over the past few months happen. Our lips met and my breath caught in my throat. Spencer placed his hands on either sides of my face and I thought I was gonna pass out. He kissed me again and then we pulled away from each other the world around me was spinning. Cheers erupted from behind Garcia's door and from the bullpen. We spun around and saw the rest of the team except Hotch gathered around the corner smiling and laughing. Reid and I laughed and blushed. I took a deep breath and tried to get ready to walk away, but I was so dizzy and my heart was racing so quickly I didn't know if I'd be able to. Reid noticed this and smiled.

"When the body is flooded with endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin it can make you dizzy and elevate your heart rate. Making it hard to focus, talk, even stand up."

"You'd be right about that one, Doc." Spencer and I walked away and we sat at our desk quietly as of nothing had happened. The team was beaming, I think I even saw Derek hand Prentiss money. Spencer and I went back to going through paperwork and flipping through cases. We looked up at each other and smiled occasionally.
