Also just saying I've put Julian down as bi, but really I think he's bisexual homoromantic so that's kind of what's here.

Julian and Captain were laying on the Captain's bed together, held in each other's arms. They had been for about an hour now, relaxing in a comfortable silence. The other ghosts were probably wondering where they were, but neither of them could summon the will to leave this close, loving cuddle. Julian was still confused, but now it was just like a question in the back of his mind that could be asked later.

The late afternoon was slowly turning to evening, and the energetic light was draining from the room as the sun set outside.

"Captain?" Julian asked, in a quiet voice that didn't pierce the silence.

"Hm?" Captain replied, gently starting to play with the politicians hair.

"What about Havers? I thought you loved him." He asked, a little confused that the feelings he'd had had been reciprocated.

"I did and I still do, but that was nearly a hundred years ago now... I've slowly moved on, it's just a bit hard not to think of him on my death day." He explained. Julian hummed a bit in response, still a little unconvinced. Since when had Captain felt the same? Did he even feel the same now or had he just taken pity and started pretending?

Captain saw his persistent worry and tried to come up with a better way of explaining it, and he took his time to get it right. The silence was still comfortable, and they had time for him to get it right.

"It's a bit like..." He started. "It's a bit like having a pet cat. One day it dies, and you get a new cat. Of course, you still miss the one that died, especially at first, but you still love the new cat and treat it as best as you can." He said. He'd had a cat when he was little, before the war. He didn't know why, but the memory of getting a new cat after his first one died when he was 7 came back to him, and it seemed like a good analogy. "I miss Havers, but that doesn't mean I'm incapable of loving anyone else." He finished.

Julian smiled up at him, which tempted the Captain to lean forward and give him a small kiss on the forehead. Julian relaxed in his Captain's arms and shuffled closer and leaned into his chest. He felt loved, and he hadn't felt it for a long time... if ever. Women had never made him feel quite as good as this.

The new couple stayed in bed until morning and enjoyed getting to know each other a bit more. Golden, rich light filled the room, and after a well enjoyed while of relaxing, they got up together and joined everyone else in the main room, where they all seemed to always meet each morning before going off to do their own things.

Only Fanny, Alison and Pat were there, as the rest were still in bed.

"Honestly, what on Earth has happened to standards? It is most certainly not acceptable behaviour to still be in bed by this hour." Fanny remarked dramatically, it was only 8 o'clock.

"There's not exactly anything to do once you get up, is there?" Julian pointed out. He and Captain were still standing whilst the others were sat down - Alison drinking a cup of tea, only vaguely aware of the ghosts - and they were about a metre apart. They hadn't agreed to tell anyone yet, nor had they said not to tell anyone, but for now no one needed to know. Pat had noted that they'd come in together, but it wasn't his business and as long as they weren't upset with each other it was fine.

Fanny shrugged a bit, but it was clear she still thought less of the others for not getting up sooner. Captain sat down on an armchair, glancing at his new partner before looking around the room for a conversation starter.
