2018: forks, washington, the cullen house

"You better go hunt," Alice said, skipping into Jasper and my room. "Both of you. We have an exciting week of school ahead."

"When have you been excited about high school?" I asked, not moving from my spot, leaning against Jasper. "You get excited about college. I understand. I do too. But high school?"

"Edward is going to have a very exciting week," she corrected. Music drifted in from elsewhere in the house and I realized what this meant as I saw the images flash through Alice's mind.

"His mate is going to show up this week," I explained to Jasper, patting his thigh. "Come on, Mr. Hale. We better do as the lady says and go find some deer." I turned to Alice who looked into the distance and then nodded.

"It's a good weekend for deer and mountain lions." Jasper nodded in approval as he grabbed his shoes from the door. "Don't drink too little," Alice reminded both of us seriously. "I would go with you but I need to prepare."

"A little private time to have dinner with my wife wouldn't be so bad. I take it you sent Emmett and Rose out already." Alice nodded.

"I'm going to Edward next though the two of us know he won't listen." I could hear his thoughts drifting up the stairs of things like mostly school. He must have known I was listening because he said something along the lines of he went hunting on Thursday when we had sun and he was just fine.

"You might have to convince him," I said. "He said he went hunting on Thursday."

"You have to go!" She called as she left the room to our adoptive brother. I changed into something more comfortable and easily able to hide the stains of animal blood.

Thinking about it, my throat was burning and I knew if I didn't feed before school tomorrow, it would be a struggle to keep myself together despite Jasper's calming energy towards me. The two of us hated being separate from one another during the school day. It was easier to hold each other accountable for our thirst when we're together.

"Let's go, Major," I said, holding out my hand to my husband. "I'm very thirsty."

"For me." He winked. I rolled my eyes and let out a long sigh.

"Remind me why I married you." After successfully hunting and drinking enough blood that we would be sated for the next five days, we returned through the window of our bedroom in the Cullen house.

Despite both our old fashion ways, we've shared a room since I arrived. It stemmed from being around people I didn't know, afraid of what they'd do or say about my eyes which were still changing from blood red to the bright amber that I looked at now. But no matter how much I hid away, Jasper and Carlisle would assure me and reassure me that nobody would judge me anyway.

"Have you done that history paper yet?" Jasper pulled his laptop over to his lap after changing clothes.

"I have. Are you telling me the man who fought in the Civil War has not finished his paper on the Civil War?" I teased, easing myself under his arm so he could still type but my head was on his side.

"Do you think Edward is going to accept his mate?" Jasper asked as his fingers flew across the keyboard.

"$10 says yes." I shook my head quickly. "Honeymoon destination pick says yes and they'll be married in two years."

"Honeymoon destination says yes, two years, but we'll have to leave sometime before the wedding only to return and then a wedding happens." He held out his hand and I took it, giving it a hard shake.

"You are going to be so disappointed when we spend a week in Canada." I turned on the TV, relaxing back into Jasper's arms and watching whatever program was on.

"You're going to wish you picked Isle Esme like last time," Jasper responded, shifting so I'd have more room laying against his side.

"Stop betting your honeymoon on if I fall in love or not!" Edward yelled from the other room, making Jasper, and I laugh.
