Benji's POV

I'm so happy that the day is over, and I can't wait to get home. Today seemed like one of those days where time seemed to move too slow. Or maybe I am just anxious for tonight, I mean it's not the first time Victor's had dinner with my parents and me. But birthdays always seem to put more pressure on things.

"Hey B" Victor says as I get my books from my locker.

"Hey" I said smiling at him.

"So since the school day is over can I finally wish you a Happy Birthday?" he asks making me sigh.

"If you must."

"Geez B I've never met someone who hates birthdays especially their own."

"I don't hate my birthday I just don't want to make a big deal out of it because-"

"You think you don't have any friends." He said as we head to the parking lot.

We've been having this argument for weeks about my birthday. I mean I used to have party's and stuff before my accident and before I came out. After that kids at school were friendly but awkward around me. So, I just became sort of a loner, I guess. I mean my parents still celebrate my birthday.

We have our annual birthday dinner; my mom makes my favorite foods and bakes me a cake. And my dad gives me a birthday card filled with money so I can get my own birthday present. My mom usually gives me an awesome homemade gift and we all eat our cake and ice cream in the living room and watch a movie of my choice. Not having friends isn't so bad.

"You know if I told Felix that you feel like you don't have friends. He'd be crushed Lake too actually."

"Which is why they'll never know, plus I let you guys plan something" I said and Vic busts out laughing.

"Let us plan something? B I am pretty sure most teenagers don't go out with their friends for birthday coffee. At the coffee shop they work at."

"Well when you say it like that it does sound bad." I said feeling bad.

"Hey it's your day if that's what you feel comfortable doing then that's what we'll do." He said with his mischievous smirk on.

"Uh huh" I said suspiciously.

I don't think that Vic has anything else planned and if he does, he's doing a great job at hiding it. I am immediately suspicious when we get to my house and my parents aren't home.

"What?" Vic asks as I eye him suspiciously.

"Nothing just my mom's usually home by now."

"Hey, don't give me your suspicious eyes. How am I supposed to know where she is? What exactly is your special birthday dinner anyway?"

"Chinese"

"Your moms making Chinese food for your birthday? Is there a story attached to that?" He asks swiping an apple from the bowl on the table.

"Not really, my mom and me love Chinese food we ordered it all the time. But that was expensive, so my mom started making it at home which was cheaper and honestly more delicious." I explain.

"That's sweet" he says beaming at me.

While we wait for my parents to get home, we do our homework. By the time we're done I'm one hundred percent sure that Vic has something cooked up for my birthday. My mom is never late on my birthday.

"What did you do?" I ask finally.

Instead of answering he gives me his best Victor smile.

"I think we should get changed" he says pulling a box out of his backpack. "It's from Lake"
