"RACHEL WHERE IS MY BLACK SKIRT?"

I scavenge through the bottomless pit I call my apartment, as Rachel appears around the corner strutting my high-waisted black skirt, my silky brown boots, and the only piece of expensive clothing I owned, my Gucci belt.

" God Kylie chill you don't have to go ballistic I'm just trying it on, doesn't it look so good on me!"

My sister has always been like this, overly confident, super sassy, and overbearing; I mean that's how older sisters tend to be.

"Also this silver dress looks so much better on you, it makes your eyes pop."

I have my father's eyes, grayish green ones with a hint of gold in the middle. At least I think they resemble his based on what my Mom and Rachel tell me. I don't remember much of my father since he left when I was nine.

"Yeah yeah whatever, It looks better on you anyways."

Rachel sat down next to me on my old two seat torn up white leather couch and lightly put her hand on my shoulder.

" Hey Ky are you feeling ok?"

I could tell she was worried about me, even though she can be extremely irritating to me sometimes she is also a big teddy bear. She can tell when I'm upset and she always knows how to cheer me up, she's been doing it for a while.

" Yeah, just thinking about dad again"

I say with a slight smile, to reassure her that I'm fine.

"Awww sweetie remember what I always tell you 'anyone would be a fool to not want to know Kylie Madox.'"

She then came in and gave me a tight squeeze that some would say is constricting, but I would say is comforting.

Right then me and Rachel are frightened when we hear banging at my apartment door.

" It's twelve AM, why would anyone be knocking at your door this late?" Rachel asks.

"Oh I have a pretty good idea who."

I stumble off the couch rather tipsy after having my second glass of white wine.

Of course as I open the door I see my 6'2 dark haired, blue eyed, extremely infuriating neighbor. He comes bursting in screaming wearing nothing but a towel and soap in his hair,

"WHAT THE HELL, WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY WATER!"

Ryan and I have known each other since the eleventh grade. I didn't plan on living across the hall from him, but apparently when you sign a lease it can't be broken, so we have been forced to tolerate one another until our leases are up.

"Ahh so this is the lovely neighbor I've heard so much about" Rachel says in a sarcastic tone.

  "Yes indeed."

Ryan steps inside with a furrowed eyebrows and indents in his forehead.

  "What's the problem now Ryan?"

He then replies in a rather harsh tone,"I was taking a shower and suddenly my water went cold, then completely stopped."

"And you think I have something to do with this, maybe It's because you and your 12 girlfriends used so much water, and you forgot to pay your half of the water bill."

Ryan scoffs and rolls his eyes at me,"No, it's because your sister over here is taking all her sweet time in the shower so now neither of us get hot water!"

I knew that when the landlord told me that the person across the hall and I had to share a utility bill that it would cause problems.
Ryan is the cockiest, most arrogant person I know. He makes me want to rip my hair out every day.

"Um guys... are y'all going to stop giving each other the death stare??"

I hadn't realized what I was doing but I guess I was giving Ryan the death stare; I mean it is suitable at this moment considering I wanted to murder him. Like why the hell is he blaming me for our lack of hot water, because it's clearly his fault even though he is too proud to admit it, and also has this strange urge to lay all the blame on everyone except himself.

"Anyways Ryan, do you think it's very polite of you to simply come pounding at our door at nearly twelve AM, you are lucky we didn't get too frightened and call the cops on you."

Ahh that's my sister, never letting people push me or herself around. Normally I would be embarrassed like when she does this to random civilians passing by ,or to the waiter at 'The Fry Shack'. But this time her sarcasm and wittiness is welcomed. "Well I can see you are just like your fantastic sister Kylie; you both have the same scrawny arms."

"AHH that's it Ryan get out of my apartment right now or else..."

"Or else what, or else you'll call the cops or maybe even give me a stern talking to." He began to make obnoxious noises , and was stomping his foot on the dark gray carpet, while crossing his arms. He was mocking me and I was done with it.

Charging into him with extreme force; getting caught off guard he stumbled backwards out my front door, slamming into his. When I got off of him he didn't say anything, he just walked slowly and painfully back into his apartment. Had I hurt him??? When I walked back into my apartment the clock read one am; we had been fighting for an hour about water, how pathetic is that, well anything regarding Ryan and me usually is.

"Ughh im twenty-three, why do I always act out around him Rach-?"

Rachel then looked at me rather strange, and I had a feeling I knew what she was about to say.

"You know Ky if you guys fought like that in public you might give off the wrong impression."

"And what impression is that?"
"That y'all are dating of course!"
"Oh my God Rachel that is so insulting; you really think I would give up my dignity and self respect to date someone that belligerent!?"
"Yes."
