"Aueren?"
My hand flicked on the light and his dark grey eyes met with my deep green ones. He sat on his bed with a G-19 hand gun resting on his lap. I gasped in shock as he slowly started to fill it with ammo.
"What the fuck are you doing? Are you insane?" I quietly questioned him and shut the door behind me, hoping my mom wouldn't wake up.
"I'm protecting mom." He stated simply. "I don't know what he did to her before I finally found her at Doug's Bar.." He said, his voice slowly fading. I stare at the gun in my hand and swiftly take it from him. He opened his mouth to protest but I beat him to it. "I know it was odd for mom to come home with some random ass man but it isn't an everyday thing. Besides, he made sure he got home safely and mom doesn't have any marks or bruises on her body... she was probably out having fun."
"Well I need my gun back. I just gotta make sure he never comes back again." He stood and tried to take it from my hands. My brother was a foot taller than me but I was quicker. "No Aueren, you can't have this back. Who sold this to you anyways?! Do I gotta beat some ass?" I looked at the gun and found that the safety was on. He stayed quiet and his cheeks burned red. One thing my brother was horrible at was lying.
"I stole it." He spoke softly and dare not look me in the eyes.
"I'll give you one more chance to change your answer and tell the truth. If not, you're gonna suffer the consequences." I placed the gun in my back pocket and crossed my arms, looking up at him. The room was filled with silence and my brother did nothing but bite the corner of his thumb nail. He did it when he was nervous. I grew impatient and started to count.
"Ten...nine...eight...four...three...two" I counted down slowly.
"Rico." He mumbled quietly and took a step back. I was now fuming. There's no way my ex...Let me rephrase that. There's no way my mistake had the nerve to be dealing to my little brother. I didn't waste a second of time. Running to my room, I quickly closed the door and locked it so Aueren couldn't enter. After finding my phone on the bed, I scrolled to 'EW RICO' and gave it a call. Two rings. We've been broken up for half a year and he still picks up on the second ring.
"Princesa?" his stupid, fake-shocked voice calls out.
"What did I tell you when we broke up?" I was already annoyed as hell.
"That you loved me but you couldn't handle the size of my d-"
"Stop being egotistical before I rip it off!" I screamed in anger.
"You said to leave you alone?" He sounded genuinely confused.
"Me and who else?"
"uh... All your family"
"DING DING DING. Leave my brother alone or I will find you and kill you myself!" I hung up and groan in frustration. Taking the gun out of my back pocket, I pulled a safe from underneath my bed and stuffed it inside. The only thing I had in there was some emergency cash that my mom gives to me at the beginning of the year. I set the safe back and sat on my bed. A thought had quickly brewed in my mind.
When I was fourteen and my sister was eighteen, my mother decided to have a joined party to celebrate the both of us. My birthday is May 18th and my sister's was the 9th. That was the year that she bought us matching safes along with other small gifts. The night that we set them up, we made our passwords each others birthday. Curiosity filled my mind and I felt the urge to know what was inside my sisters safe.
I got on my knees and pulled the dusty safe out from under her bed. It hadn't been touched in almost two years. Dusting it off, I punched in my birthday and it clicked open. Inside was an envelope that read "Open only in an emergency". I was baffled and almost shocked at what I just found. I yawn and read my lock screen. It was already 1:17am? The mystery note can wait. Putting everything back in its respective place, I took a quick body shower and slipped on my pajamas. It didn't take long for me to fall fast asleep, I was already exhausted.
