"We're your godparents."

My jaw dropped and my eyes bulged. "What? I have godparents?" I looked up at these two perfect looking people. My bafflement didn't last long and questions flood my mind.

"How do I know you two aren't randoms?" I cautiously took a step back.

"Darling, we have pictures of the entire family. You and your sister when you were both so small." The woman who stood before me pulls out her phone and swipes through her gallery and that's when I saw it.

There was one picture that my mom had in her room by her nightstand. It was a picture of Elora and I sitting on our mom's and dad's lap. I was a baby and Elora seemed to be four, although I never asked my mother. My father past when I was only 5 and my sister was nine.  At the time, Aueren was 2.

"Is that enough proof or do you need more persuading?" The man says.

"How bout we do an introduction hmm? I'm Vivian and this is Lance."

"So how are you related to me then?" I run my fingers through my hair and decided to take a seat on the sofa in the living room. They both followed me and sat on the other loveseat.

"So, I was best friends with your dad..." Lance started to say but Vivian gave him a look. I pretended not to notice and look at the floor.

"So what happened? Why didn't you guys get to see me grow up?" I found myself asking that question in a more sensitive tone.

"Well dear, after your dad passed away, something about your mom changed. She wouldn't go out anywhere, she didn't let anyone hold you and the list goes on." Lance shifted in his seat and something seemed off.

"When we kept on calling your mom to offer her help and support but, it made her so upset she... she said she didn't was us going anywhere near you guys. She blocked us and moved houses. When we found you at the graveyard, we didn't want you to know it was us incase you told your mom. She definitely would have gotten authorities involved." Vivian rose from her seat and went to the kitchen. I could hear her pouring water into glasses, probably a glass for me.

There was still so many things I didn't understand. If they lost contact with me, how did they know about the death of my sister?

"I don't understand." I held my hand out and accepted the glass of water being handed to me. "How do you know of my sister's death?"

"Our son had the same ambitions your sister. Get into the best tech school and meet new people who lived across the country. He didn't speak to Elora, no. He simply made sure she was safe and out of harms way." Vivian sat beside me and scrolled though photos of her son.

He was a handsome gentleman. Tall, broad shoulders, oceanic blue eyes and a Colgate smile. The top of his head was covered in soft, chestnut curls. He had nice style for a nerd. On the last photo she showed me, my eyes instantly landed on a small black blur in the background of his selfie.

"Wait, can you zoom in on that thing in the corner?" I pointed to the far upright corner of the picture. She zoomed in and both of our jaws dropped. It was that girl from Ashley's party. "I never knew he was photo bombed" Vivian joked. "Neither did I..." I stare at the photo a bit longer  before an impatient Lance starts to snap his fingers.

"Alright come on guys. We've been here half an hour and haven't reached the juicy stuff yet." He rubs his hands together and pulls out a manilla folder from a black folio. Her name was hastily written on the folder. "Elora Vidal..." I whispered. "How did you get that file? I've been thinking of so many ways to obtain it and yet... it's here.. with you?" He hands me the file and I read it over.
