The First Day

JJ's Pov: I got up got ready and got coffee on the way to work  I headed in a little earlier than usual so I could get better set up for the day. I walked in the door and I was not the first person there. Emily was at her new desk setting up everything she had in her box in an very organized way. It was cute the way she was setting up the little pictures on her desk , I just stood there and watched for what felt like forever and then I realized I was just staring at her beauty and admiring all her features. Emily looked up and we made eye contact and I stopped staring and walked in and said "Good Moring Emily." Emily smiled and said "Good Moring JJ." I said "Why are you in so early? The rest of the team doesn't get here for another hour." Emily said "I'm usually the first one in and the last one to leave. Plus I knew you would be here and I was hoping you could give me so pointers before hotch gets here."  I said "Sure , right this way." I walked up the steps and to the right and Emily followed we went down the hall and my office was the third door on the right. I opened the door and went behind my desk and set my coffee down and my bags on the left side and pulled out the case files that of the cases that I narrowed it down to last night. There were 3 cases and I handed them to Emily and I said " Look at these 3 and tell me which one doesn't sit with you the most." Emily grabbed the files and began reading. I pulled out my laptop and began checking emails to see if we had gotten any other cases which were more needing of our attention right now than the ones we already have. 5 minutes pass and Emily says" This second one with the women and children who have gone missing , not all the bodies have been found for all of the victims. We have established an idea victim white single moms in there 30s with a daughter who is around 6 years of age. He abducts them from all different places never going to the same place twice. He has abducted 4 different single moms and daughters but only single mom has been found he didn't kill the daughter. So this unsub is trying to find victims that fit with his motive. The thing that gets me is all the victims are so similar yet different but he has only killed  one victim. We just need to figure out who his real intended victim is." I said "There you go , your a natural and you just picked our next case. Looks like we are going to Massachusetts." Emily said "I knew if I tried hard enough I would get it , now I just have to keep focused and stay on it." Emily looked at me and smiled and I said "What would make you distracted?" Emily looked into my eyes and said "Something." I put my hands on my desk over one another and said "Alright " I looked at my watch and we had 3o minutes until the rest of the team got here.

Emily's Pov: I looked at JJ and said "Now that we have gotten that out of the way. " I crossed my legs and put my elbows on my knees and leaned in and said " Why don't we get to know each other before the rest of the team gets here." JJ grabbed her coffee and took a drink and said "Okay , you go first." I said " Well I have been in the bureau for 10 years now just in Washington , I just moved here and the only family I really have is my parents. My mom is a diplomat and my dad well I have never met so. " JJ said "Well I  have been with the BAU for 3 years now and before I was with the state department. I have a son who is 2 years old and a cat." JJ grabbed her coffee and took another sip and set it down and said " I hope to get to know more about you." I said "Me too." JJ said I looked at my watch and said "The team should be getting here any minute now." JJ said "Have you met the rest of the team yet?" I said "No." JJ said "Well Garcia should be here now and Gideon has been here he just is in his office. Reid and Morgan come in at the same time and then Hotch comes in right after them and then we go to the briefing room to discuss the case before we go into the field." I nodded and said" I met Garcia yesterday and she helped me get Hotch to approve my transfer. Reid and Morgan are walking in now." JJ said "Hotch is here too , let's go." We both stood up and grabbed the files and started walking to the briefing room and we sat down and then the rest of the team sat down except for Hotch. Hotch still standing said " This is Emily , she will be joining is for now on a trial basis." The team went around the table introducing them selves. Then JJ stood up and said as she is handing out the files to everyone on the team "Four mothers and daughters have gone missing one mother was found in the woods not far from where she was abducted Amy and Alexis were the first two victims who he adducted from the park , Robin and Nicole were abducted from the Grocery store , Denise and Jasmine were abducted in the parking lot of the swim class that Jasmine attends , and Susan and Bethany were abducted outside there home while getting ready to go to Bethany's soccer game. Robin is the one who was found in the woods , he daughter is still missing " Morgan said " He has his idea victim so what is he doing with them? He has abducted four mothers and four daughters and we have only found one of the mother." I said "Maybe she didn't fit in with the others or she disobeyed the unsub and he snapped and killed her and is looking for her replacement." Reid said "That's a possibility , if it was for that reason then maybe he is trying to force women and daughters for some kind of cult or organization , which is why he is abducting single mothers and there daughters and no men or boys." Hotch said "If he is looking for her replacement then we have to find him before he finds her. Wheels up in 10." Everyone grabbed their file and headed for their desk to grab their go bags and then we all headed out to get on the plane.

JJ's Pov: Now on the plane I grabbed a water bottle before sitting down next to Emily. Emily said "So how does this work?" I said " We go down to where ever the case is we see the crime scene and then talk to the victims families to figure out the profile and then we narrow it down and find the unsub. " Emily said "That's how I thought it worked , just wanted to make sure." I said "So , why did you want to be apart of the BAU?"" Emily said "I have always heard of the great work you guys have done and I just got the transfer paper a couple days ago , I didn't know I was getting transferred." I said "Oh well I'm glad you here." Emily smiled and said "So what do you guys usually do on the way there?" I said "We just talk and play games or go over the case file more." Emily said "Okay well what were you planning on doing?" I said "Talking to you." Emily smiled and said "So what do you want to talk about?" I said "I want to get to know the real Emily." We talked for about three hours and then we took a nap before the end of the flight. We both woke up and Hotch said "We land in 15 , Morgan and Reid go to the M.E 's office and find out everything you can about the victim and then go talk to her family , Emily and JJ go to the crime scene and see if you can find anything that will give us better insight on the profile , Reid and I will set up with the local PD."  Minutes later the plane landed and Emily and I got into the SUV and began driving to the crime scene. We got to the crime scene a few minutes later and got out and began to look at where the body was and what was around the body. We found a piece of a rope next to where the body was. Emily picked up the rope and put it in an evidence bag. We couldn't find much that was going to help us with the profile just where she was placed and how. She was strangled so we could tell the unsub just wanted to get it done and over with. I called Morgan he answered I said "What was the cause of death?" Morgan said "Strangulation with a rope. There are distinguishing marks on her neck. " I said" We found a piece of a rope at the crime scene we are going to run it over to see if it matches with the marks on her neck." Emily and I got into the SUV and drove to the M.E 's office and dropped off the rope and then went to the local PD's station to see what everyone has gotten. We got out and met the local PD and there we met with Hotch and Reid. Reid had gotten all of the victimology done and he shared what him and Hotch had learned and then Morgan came back with the results of the rope and said that it did match the marks on her neck and that it was a specific rope used for camping around here. Morgan called Garcia and said "Babygirl , I need you to check and see how many of the type of rope I sent you has been sold around here." Garcia said "Alright just give me one --- 3 matches. " Emily said "Now Garcia can you cross reference the address of the victims with the addresses of the people who bough the rope." Garcia said " Alright we have 1 match his name is Jeffery McDaniel, 35 born in raised in Massachutes and his wife and child were killed in a car crash last year.  Sending the address to you now." and then hung up. The team all got up and got into the SUV , I left Emily drive this time. Emily and I got in the front and Morgan got into the back , Hotch and Reid hopped into the front of the other SUV and began driving to the address. We got there in about 5 minutes. Hotch went up and knocked on the door and said " Jeffrey McDaniel FBI open up." The door opens and it wasn't him it was Amy. She walked out the door and she was crying and said "He has my daughter and he has a gun." Emily grabbed Amy and took her to the ambulance and tried to assure he we would get her daughter and that she was ok. The door was open and we could see that he had the gun pointed at the little girl. Hotch tried to talk him down but he just kept threating to shoot the little girl and when he went to pull the trigger Hotch shot him first. We went back to the station and packed everything up. Later on the plane I was sitting next to Emily and we were talking and I said "Do you want to get a drink when we get back?"  Emily said "Sure. " and smiled.
