"Hey, I'm sorry. It must seem like I'm avoiding you but that really isn't the case. " You finally had a moment with Shane. You were on lunch, enjoying a sandwich at a deli not too far from the station. It had been a few weeks since your first date. You promised to take him up, yet you hadn't. You were sure he thought you were ghosting him.

"It's fine. I know you've been dealing with a lot. I can tell. You don't have to explain yourself." he was a surprisingly understanding guy. Since your first date you weren't looking forward too much other than being with him. "And I get it if you need time. I'm not trying to force you into anything (Y/N), especially since you're still basically settling in. I just want to know where I stand with all of this and-"

"I like you Shane." he paused for a second. You blushed. "I-I'm sorry. It just came out. I didn't mean for it to sound so, school girl crush like I just, I had a really good time on our first date. I hope my distance hasn't made you reconsider giving me another shot. "

"No no, it's okay. I like a woman that's forward." your cheeks darkened. "I also love the fact that you're getting so red just from that statement." you brought your hands up, covering your cheeks. "Shut up.." you mutter embarrassed. Shane just laughed, reaching over and gently nudging your hands away. "You're a little too cute for your own good. " His palm brushed against your cheek and you couldn't bring yourself to look away from him.

"Whenever you're ready, just let me know. It's good to know I'm not the only one who's interested to pursue this. " you smiled, enjoying the way his palm felt on your skin.

"Me too.." You could have stayed there forever. Unfortunately the world would not have it so. Both your phones beeped at the same time, breaking the moment. Shane's hand retreated and you cleared your throat slightly, looking down at the message.

"Homicide." you both said together. You laughed, standing as Shane followed. "Duty calls." you spoke, dropping money on the counter. Shane did as well, leaving with you. Through your meeting you hoped you'd get around to talking about the whole wesen situation. After what happened in the precinct he must have thought you were too. He didn't say anything so you could only assume he was working his way up to saying something about it. If he ever found out the truth, you were scared to know what would happen.

"When you said you would take me out, I have to admit this was not what I was expecting. "His eyes drifted over the movie theater. You knew it was cliche, but you loved going to the movies. To you it was the best. "I hope you weren't expecting a fancy dinner. I figured we already went through that phase. It's good to explore other avenues. "

"I can see that. Not that I'm complaining. I really like the movies. I used to beg my parents to take me out everytime a new movie came out. When I got old enough to go with friends, I was there almost every weekend." you smiled at that.

"I had a similar experience., Maybe not as obsessive but still." he pushed your shoulder playfully as you stood in line. "Alright alright. So what are we watching?"

"Pacific Rim, I heard it's supposed to be really good."

"Action?"

"Action." you confirmed. He grinned, moving up. "Fine by me." you were about to step forward, but someone jabbed you in the back. You stumbled and Shane reached out grabbing you. When you turned you realized it was two little kids, accompanied by their parents. The older woman looked up in apology. "I'm so sorry my sons can get a little rowdy." She glared down at the two boys who immediately stopped fighting. You waved it off. "It's fine, no harm done." When you looked back you realized Shane was still holding your hand. He released it quickly.

"Oh sorry about that." you smiled. He was still being so careful around you. You linked your fingers with his. "Just to make sure I don't fall again." you stated. He stared, a small smile growing on his face.
