Chapter Seven
Something Stupid
Harry had never met two such stubborn teenagers in all his life.
Well, he’d met Adalyn and himself, but that was besides the point-Syrie and Teddy would not talk to each other, and Harry couldn’t convince them otherwise. They’d retreated to their separate rooms, slammed the doors and stayed there until supper. He’d practically had to drag them out, and then they’d just sat in their chairs, as far away from each other as possible for the entire meal, not speaking. The rest of Easter Break was going to be hell.
Sitting back in his chair, Harry felt the pressure building as he thought of what could have made them so cold. He knew Syrie loved Teddy so much it hurt, and he knew Teddy had no clue-he also knew Teddy had somehow wound up with Victoire. The whole ordeal made Harry’s head hurt.
“Harry?” Teddy’s head poked through the door, eyes flashing emerald green.
“Ted!” Harry said happily, truly relieved to see him.
“May I come in?”
“Always son, always.” Harry motioned for Teddy to come in, and the boy sat on the edge of the couch facing the fire. He looked tense, nervous; as if he could bolt any minute-Harry remembered when he used to be like that. “What’s going on, Teddy?” he asked quietly “Anything you want to talk about?”
Biting his lip, Teddy looked into the flames “I think I messed up, Harry. Big time.”
Raising his brow, Harry didn’t say anything except “Go on, I’m listening.”
Nodding, Teddy didn’t take his eyes off the fire “I sort of…I sort of thought I liked this one girl, but really I only thought that because…because I couldn’t have the girl I really wanted.”
Terror passed through Harry like a ghost-he was really digging his own grave now. “Alright,” he said “And, does this fist girl happen to be Victoire?”
Teddy nodded sheepishly “Honestly Harry, I didn’t mean to-Syrie was gone and it was just us and I knew Sy-the other girl would never have me and we sorta…did it.”
Harry choked on his tea and it spilled on his shirt, his face paling slightly “Pardon?” he choked.
Hair going bright red, Teddy avoided his god fathers eyes “I had sex with Victoire.” He said quietly, deciding to avoid the word shag “And I regretted it immediately afterwards, but then…”
“Please tell me you didn’t get Victoire pregnant.” Harry said, still in shock. ‘Bill will kill us both.’ He thought.
“No!” Teddy cried, shaking his head furiously as his hair went fuchsia “Besides, wouldn’t it be kinds obvious if I did?”
Face grim, Harry looked at Teddy with serious eyes “I know there are kids your age who easily would have gotten themselves into that mess and gotten rid of it, Theodore.”
