(Mike)
"Mikey you really need to get a job..." My wonderful, beautiful girlfriend of two years, Ashley, said to me as she turned around away from the sink to look at me with such a serious look. "I mean I don't want to be the only one working in this relationship, plus your car payments and rent is coming up and you barely have enough money to pay both of them."
Ashley has always been begging I get a job and I keep telling her I would search for a job, but I guess the task kept slipping from my mind. And she was right I did have barely enough money to pay my car payments and rent this month and I asked my parents could they help me out, but they only gave me the same speech they gave me before..... "Mike, we know you're our son and me and your father love you very much, but you are 24 years old which means you are too old to be asking us for money you need to find a job if you want to pay you're payments. Learn some responsibility for a change."
"I will Ash, don"t worry I will find a job." I said.
Ashley sighed put her hands on her hips. "When Mike? I want to know when are you going to look for a job, you told me that last month and you never did." Ashley sighed. "Mike if you don't start pulling your weight around here I'm sorry but this relationship isn't going to work. "
"Come on Ash don't do that I'm trying to make this work." I said.
Ashley crossed her arms frowning a litttle. "It doesn't seem that way."
"Well I am! You mean everything to me Ash I don't want you to go."
"Alright. Then prove it to me." She said. "Prove to me how much you care about, prove to me that you're trying to make this relationship work."
"How?"
"By getting a damn job!" With thay said Ashley took off her apron and put it on the back of the chair and walked out the kitchen with a slight angry and disappointed look on her face and into the bedroom slamming the door behind her.
I sighed leaning back in my chair and ran my hands through my dark hair then leaned forward and placed my arms on the table. I didn't want Ashley to leave like she meant the world to me, she was the first girl I fell in love with in college and she was the person to accept me for me and what I wasn' t I wouldn't be able to find another person like that so of course I couldn't afford to loose her.
I sat up reaching for the newspaper. "I'll prove it alright." I said under my breath and opened the newspaper and began searching for a job. There weren't that many choices, there was a help wanted notice for a machantic for a auto shop, a bartender, an English teacher for the high school and waiter at the restaurant down the street; however neither of those fitted me.
I picked up red pen and put an X through at being a mechanic I mean l wasn't bad at mechanics, but I wasn't that good neither to get a job as one.
I put an X through bartending. I hated being in a bar.
I put an X through being an English teacher, I didn't like kids that much to become a teacher especially to teens now a days.
I definitely put an X through being a waiter because some peoples attitudes towards a waiter is just sorry.
Also plus neither of these jobs had the pay high enough to help me through my payments; however there was one more Help Wanted AD in the paper....
HELP WANTED
Freddy Fazbear's Pizza
Family pizzeria looking for security guard to work the night shift. 12am to 6am.
Monitor cameras, ensure safety of equipment and animatronic characters.
Not responsible for injury/ dismemberment.
$120 a week.
To apply call,
1-800-FAZ-FAZBEAR.I didn't see why they needed to put that they were not responsible for injury or dismemberment like I could you get injured just from being a security guard, but I didn't think too much in it I was just glad that I had found a job that seemed simple, easy and it paid good as well I mean $120 a week wasn't that bad with a pay like that I could have my rent a car payment in before it's due by the end of the month.
I smiled and put a big red circle around that job add and picked up my phone and dialed the number leaning back in my chair as I waited for someone to pick up. Then finally after the fourth ring someone answered.
"Hello you called Freddy Fazbear's pizza a magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. How may I help you?" A male voice said with the most nonchalant voice I have ever heard.
Ignoring how nonchalantly this guy was talking Ieaned forward placing my elbow on the table. "Ah yes, I wss calling about the help wanted AD in the newspaper."
There was a little silence at first before he asked, "You want to apply for the night security guard?"
"Yes." I said.
At first I thought I heard him chuckle lightly, but I shrugged it off thinking it was just my imagination. "Alright, can I have your name?"
"Mike Schmidt." I answered.
"Okay Mr. Schmidt, do you think you could come in tomorrow for the interview I wish to do it in person so I can see if you're....qualified?" He asked.
"Yes of course, what time?" I asked.
"Hmmm...could you come in at say 10?"
"Am?"
"No, pm."
"Why so late if I might ask?"
"At an early time it would be so loud with the parties and with little kids running around having their fun and so it would be hard to concentrate; however at 10 is everything is a little quieter." He said.
"Alright, makes sense, makes sense. Okay 10pm it is. I'll be there." I said with a slight smile.
"Great! See you tomorrow Mr. Schmidt." With that he hung up.
I put down my phone and looked down at the news paper in bold red lettering right beside the circled job AD. Job Interview: 10pm. I smiled even more to myself thinking that I had finally proved to Ashley that I was capable of finding a job. I stood up from the table leaving the newspaper where it was and went into the bedroom to tell Ashley the big news.
