This story is based on a true story that happened in real life in history, this took place in Poland. Nazis killed more than 1.3 million Jewish in Concentration Camps. Blue and white striped uniforms with assigned numbers, big lines of Jew people not knowing what was going on. Families being separated by tall men wearing greenish suits.
My name is Judith Marin, I am thirteen years old and my height is 5'4. My hair is brown like a tree branch, and hazel eyes like hazelnuts. I wake up so early in the morning, make myself some coffee, and head to school to learn. I was on my way home when I saw my father running to me saying that we needed to hurry and leave. My father has told me that the Nazis were taking Jew people from their homes and are being loaded inside trains. The only thing that my father thought of was to hide my brother and me in a secret room inside our home. "How can this happen?" was the question that my brother told me while being in that little room. I heard footsteps coming from the stairs, I wasn't sure where my parents were or if it was them. My brother and I stood quiet so they wouldn't hear us, we heard the door open. It was the Nazis holding up guns. "Come one now, let's keep on going!" How did they find us? I asked myself. That was the last time I saw my brother after being separated from the Nazi soldiers who found us. I was loaded in one of the trains my father was talking about.
Many people were standing outside the front gate and others were on the other side of the gates wearing blue and white striped uniforms with assigned numbers in them. The Nazis gave me a uniform with a long number in it, I was asked many questions related to my personal information. Auschwitz camp is the place that many of my own people were in, families being separated and Jew people were assigned in different groups. Walking down the camp I went into where many of the women were in, I went in to find my mother. Where can she be? I looked everywhere when turning around I saw my mother standing there worried. "Mother!!" she turned around not knowing what was going on, she was so happy to see me. "How did you get here?" I told her everything that happened, I also asked her what had happened to my father. She didn't have any answers about where he was and she didn't know if he was okay. "Wake Up!!" The screams of the soldiers were the only thing that I heard this morning. Many of the womens and teens were taken to do chores and others to make the food. I was starving. I didn't eat all day today and yesterday.
Why did this happen? How can one day and another my life completely change because of the war between Germany and Poland. " When will all this be over?" I asked myself over and over again. While outside doing chores I noticed that there was smoke coming out from one of the camps. It smelled horrible. I kept walking to find more information about the places in this camp and also asked where the men were staying. Finding more information I knew what that smell was, it was the ashes of people who were put inside gas chambers. Days went by with no news of my father or brother, the only family that I have near is my mother. Even though I am locked inside the camps with no education I still study what I last learned in school. I always carried my notebook around.
The day has finally come where all the Jew people are free, the Nazis people were arrested and locked up. My father wasn't in good condition, he needed food so he could be healthy. My family has finally reunited after all the difficulties we went through, many people lost their loved ones. Years went by when I decided to visit the Concentration Camps for the first time in a long time. I cried remembering how many people lost their lives there, and how many times I got yelled at or even pushed. Many of the Jew people's belongings were still in there as memory and honor to those who didn't make it out. I am finally happy now.
