I sat at the edge of the pool, moving my feet in the water. Looking at the stars, I let my mind wander. I thought about what it would be like to just put everything on hold. It seemed like life was always going, going, going. Sometimes I felt like I was drowning and I couldn't take a breath, the current just kept pulling me under. There was no one at the pool, it was technically closed, but my parents owned the hotel (which was next to the hugely popular amusement park, Aqua Zone, and they had some deal with my parents, so we got in for free), I could do what I wanted when I wanted and it felt great. I could get in anywhere and the beach near the hotel was a wonderful escape from my stuffy life. A slight breeze came in and blew my plain, knotted, wavy hair out of my face. I could smell the chlorine of the pool and the freshness of the lake not too far away mixing together to form one of my most favorite scents. I couldn't help but smile at the thought of so many people sleeping and missing the beauty of the night.

I walked out of the hotel doors, I couldn't sleep, not with the wonder of the world and the extreme pleasure of exploration possible right outside the door. I was planning on sneaking into the pool, they really should do a better job at keeping it off limits during the night. After the pool, I was going to walk along the beach, feeling the sand in my toes and watching the lights of the amusement park flicker, despite the fact that all was at rest for the night.
My plans were all changed when I arrived at the gate to the pool, ready to jump the fence when I noticed the gate door was already open, a girl was sitting at the edge of the pool with her back to me. I could see her long, brown hair delicately hanging down her back, almost reaching her butt. A breeze came in, tangling it all and blowing it out of her face. I noticed her head tilting up, looking at the stars. She looked so beautiful with the lights in the pool causing her to seem to glow. Her legs carefully moved back and forth in the water, causing ripples to move slowly across the otherwise still water. I was in a trance. I so desperately wanted to go talk to her, but I didn't want to ruin the beautiful picture in front of me. I grabbed my phone and quietly took a picture, it may seem creepy, but I love the beauty of pictures and at that moment, there was nothing more beautiful than her. In my head, I pitied all of the people sleeping at this time, missing this perfect view. Mustering up all the courage I had, I pushed the gate further open (it was silent, thankfully), walked into the pool area, and sat down next to her. I could smell the chlorine of the pool and the freshness of the lake creating one of my favorite scents.
