Our Secret

In my head

As i fall asleep i start to wonder if this has all truly been a dream. As i drift deeper and deeper into my slumber i think to myself.

It's all just one big dream...

i suddenly wake up covered in sweat gasping for air. I can't seem to find the air around me as i suck in short breaths. My heart starts racing, my head is spinning.

i need some air

even my inner dialogue seems to be out of breath. I slowly start to get out of my bed from fear of passing out if i move too quickly.

I open my window and i'm met with a cool autumn breeze. I try to take a deep breath through my mouth but the air seems to freeze inside of me. My hands now shaking i crawl onto my roof through my window. When my body finally makes it to the dark roof below me I let myself lie there in silence. The darkness surrounds me as i let the cool air take over my lungs.

I close my eyes and try to imagine something that calms me. The first thing that comes to my mind is Ethan. I imagine him laying beside me soothing my aching body by letting his hands flow mindlessly through my hair. As i imagine this it feels as though someone is really there, lying next to me slowly pushing my hair out of my cold face.

I turn my head and open my eyes only to be met by the loving gaze of Luke. Instead of this startling me i seem ever more comfortable in my own skin. A small smile dances on my lips. No words leave his mouth as he sits up, almost telling me to do the same; i oblige.

Luke and i are now only centimeters away from each other. I can feel his hot breath on my face as he reaches his hand to cup my face.

How is this happening...how is he touching me?

His hand feels so warm against my freezing skin. It feels as though he's melting away my pain...like he's thawing my skin from a single touch.

I lean into his hand placed on my cheek. I lift my hand to meet his.

he feels so real...so right.

I can't seem to form words as i stare at him; I stare at him in awe. He seems even more attractive then i remember. The moonlight seems to light up his skin in the perfect way. He seems so delicate like he's made out of glass.

"h-how are you doing this" I whisper, finally finding the words that were frozen on the tip of my tongue.

"i honestly don't know..." As he says this the hand that was once comfortably placed on my cheek moves slowly to my lips. As though he's tracing them like i'm a piece of art he's seeing for the first time. "i'm just thankful you're letting me do it."

his words seem to travel through my body like a heat wave. I can't fight the urge to smile at his sincere tone. He notices this and begins to trace his hand up the side of my face following my smile. Instead of stopping at my lips his hand keeps moving. His hands suddenly stop as he reaches my jaw. My mouth falls open, and my lips part.

"Luke..." i whisper my words still not strong enough to find themselves. I think about my next words very carefully. I close my eyes in deep thought "please" I plead opening my eyes looking up at him.

He only nods in response as he leans in closing the space between us. My whole body lights up, every inch of me is on fire as he moves his lips against mine. I've never felt this alive as i do right now. Nothing in the world could ever describe this feeling. I smile into the kiss as he picks up the pace. His hands tangled in my hair and mine tangled in his. He slowly starts to pull away from my lips with a smile painted on his lips. His lips...they seemed so red so new.

"y/n that was-"

BEEP BEEP BEEP

My eyes snap open and i gasp for air.

that was all in my head...well maybe not all of it.
