the car ride

Soon a lady walked in and told us the car was ready.

I sat next to the tallest guy at the front.

"So, um," I began. "Can you repeat your names again?"

"I'm Soobin," says the guy next to me, smiling. "And, here's Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai", he continued.

During the car ride, we exchanged questions. It took a little while to get us to be less awkward, but I feel comfortable around them quickly enough.

"So, what do you like doing?" Hueningkai asked me.

"Nothing in particular. I like to sing sometimes when I have nothing else to do."

"Cool!" said Soobin.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Just back home." Taehyun replied, while holding out his packet of crisps. I took one and mumbled a thanks.

"So," Beomgyu started, "The first thing you should know is that we're famous".

"How famous?" I asked, feeling intrigued. It wasn't every day that I met famous people, and to think that I would be living with five!

"Quite. We're in a boy band, called Tomorrow x Together, also known as TXT."

"Never heard of it, are you good?" I enjoyed listening to music. Music helped me drown out my sorrow and pain. I've never heard of Tomorrow x Together though.

"Of course we are!" exclaimed Hueningkai. "Anyway, we started this band last year, and the five of us are almost as close as brothers."

"Recently, we feel a little bit out of place so when PD-nim told us a girl was going to live with us we thought it was crazy but he insisted that it was the best thing to do for us right now." said Yeonjun.

"Why choose me, then? You didn't even interview me or anything..."

"PD-nim didn't give us an option. But for what it's worth, I'm glad that it's you Jiwoo." Yeonjun said, patting my hand. Our eyes meet.

"I guess I'm pretty lucky then, aren't I?"

"You definitely are."
