If Qixi was going to contract this Host, she'd have to find them first. Heck, she didn't even know who the hell it was that could satisfy the oh-so-picky requirements of the Main System.

The core of the mansion? Alright then. I would just blast the mansion, but I'll play along with you for now.

This time she buzzed straight up to the front door and rammed her body against it. It slowly swung open to reveal a dark hallway.

The first thing she noticed when she walked in was a rush of neutral energy presumably originating from the depths of the mansion.

Qixi raised an eyebrow.

So there's something that can produce this kind of energy inside the mansion?

The door behind her slammed shut-

Only to be stopped by an invisible force.

[Did you think I was that stupid?]

Of course she wouldn't let herself be trapped in this mansion! She would always leave some form of escape readily available.

Whatever being was intent on keeping her inside the mansion relented, and the door swung ajar once again.

Amateurs. Classic villainous house's move. Couldn't you try something less cliche, house?

After wandering around the twisty corridors for a while, Qixi came to a conclusion. She seemed to be lost.

F**king house! I give you leniency and this is what you give back to me? I'll raze you to the ground once I leave this place!

House: ...

What in the world did it do but keep her from finding its master? She was the one being unreasonable here! It wasn't looking to be destroyed!

Qixi rounded a corner for the millionth time just to find another corridor longer and darker than the last. She was getting tired of this house's antics. It was her style to take a more, ah, upfront approach.

[I know what you're doing. If you dare to make me go through this space again and waste more of my precious time....]

She smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes.

[I will crush you.]

The house trembled.

Boss, I can't hold off this crazy little demon anymore! You deal with it! I'm not sacrificing myself for you!

Feeling whatever space manipulation sorcery the house, or rather, the spirit of the house, cast, being dispelled, Qixi leisurely flew down what would hopefully be the last long hallway she'd walk down for a while.

At the end of the passageway, where the lamps mounted on the walls were almost out, there was a rather ornate door. Its corners were gilded, and the mahogany door was patterned with a grapevine motif. Curiously enough, the door was relatively free of grime, even though it was likely not a single person had lived here for at least a decade, judging by most of the outdated, dust-covered furniture and the dilapidated outermost rooms.
