Fundy's Requiem

Prelogue

A recounting of the events before the first war of L'Manberg. This takes liberties of what has been provided from the streams and in no way will be 100% accurate at all. The fic however WILL contain spoilers from the Dream SMP as the story is meant to be a retelling of the story as well as an exposition into the introduction of the story. For context this book started to be written just after the events of the November 16th war but will be recounting the events before the creation of L'Manberg as well as reworking the events of the 

"Fundy, I get it you're jealous- "

"Is that really what you think?"

The anger was clear in his voice, but each word dripped in disappointment.

"Do you really think so little of me that you assume that's what I care so much about?"

The brunette man had taken a step back in shock of his son's retaliation, he'd expected the outburst but not the words being spoken. In all honesty there was expectation that his son would agree and lash out in frustration and anger of not being the selected one to be president but he hadn't expected the tears that threatened to spill from his child's eyes.

"Of course, I'm upset that I didn't become the president. You promised it to me since childhood."

At that Wilbur relaxed, of course, how could he have thought anything less? His son was just as selfish as ever. Recounting the betrayal deep in his belly as his own flesh and blood had denounced himself as his kin in favor of sucking up to that demonic president. But his child was not finished and continued to bear into his father.

"But Tubbo is and will be a good president, better than you or I or even Tommy could achieve. So in all honesty I'm thankful you chose him."

"So why are you upset?"

Wilbur laughed incredulously. This absolute child was throwing a hissy fit over the smallest thing. If he wasn't upset, then why was he acting so brashly? Of course, he'd have been a bad president, not even if Coconut 2020 had won would L'Manburg not be in ruin, in fact his son's violent and mischievous nature would have most likely driven the nation into a deep dark pit. When the fox in front of him curled his hands in and lowered his head the brunette sighed.

"Fundy look I- "

"I'm upset because you abandoned me."

He stopped at that. A glimmer of regret flickered in his eyes as he gazed down at the broken man infront of him, forced to have watched his father die to the hands of his own grandfather in the aftermath of destruction he'd paved that had destroyed the land he'd built around them.

"I had no choice Fundy you know this."

"Oh really? No choice?"

A wet sob escaped from Fundy and it was then that Wilbur realized his son was crying. The shake of his shoulders betraying his upset as he raised his clawed hands to wipe violently at his face.

"Wilbur you always had the choice. You didn't have to blow it all up. We are trying to fix what you broke and godamnit we are so close but it's not the same."

Fundy lifted his head finally and his father's heart broke. The reddened and swollen round black eyes of his son looked at him with so much sadness in their depths as shame overcame him, replacing the annoyance he'd held with deep encompassing regret.

"It's not the same without you here Dad."

TRIGGER WARNING // As some or most of you should know, for awhile now its been semi-cannon that Fundy's character on the SMP is trans. Now, to be clear, for now this is considered a head-cannon that I am writing into the earlier narrative as I'm sure this would have effected much of SMP-Fundy's character. 

Because of this there will be mentions of pre-transitioned Fundy for narrative's sake so if you are uncomfortable with this then this fanfiction will probably not be for you. Scenes of dysphoria will be kept to a minimum however and will only be mentioned earlier into the fic as it stops becoming much of an issue later into the storyline of the SMP.

TW for shipping as well! This is entirely viewing the content creators AS THEIR CHARACTERS. Fundy has stated that he is uncomfortable with shipping as has a few of the other content creators HOWEVER I am trying to stick to the lore of the SMP so there will be a few FundyxDream scenes relating to the date and wedding. Of course I am only referencing the lore here and in no way am I trying to insinuate that I am shipping the actual content creators.
