Dante P.O.V

I woke up to my alarm going off and my dog licking my face indicating that it was time for school. Rocky was kind of my backup alarm since I almost always forget to set my alarm.

"Alright Rocky, I'm up boy" I moved Rocky's snout away from my face and sat up. Rocky was my 195 pound Rottweiler, he was kinda big for his breed of dog, he isn't fat, in fact you can almost see his rib cage. I got out of bed and got dressed, making sure I combed my hair this time, I don't know why I combed my hair since I always wear a hoodie so no one even sees my hair. I checked my phone to see nothing but the time and my blank wallpaper, the only notification I had was to update my phone.

I tied my shoes and walked to the kitchen to see a note taped to the counter from my sister, the note read "I'm gonna be working overtime again, so make yourself dinner" I crumbled the paper up and threw in the trash can. My sister is always working late, but I don't mind it though, she does her best to make sure I can eat.

I threw my backpack around my shoulder and headed out the door. Today was my first day as a sophomore in high school. I petted Rocky goodbye and walked out the door, locking it with my key.

I stepped down my porch and took a deep breath of the morning air, 'this year will be better'. I took a look around to see Luz exiting her house, she looked so tired, and her hair grew so much. I couldn't help but feel myself blush as she walked past me. I gathered up all the courage I had and caught up to her before she got too far ahead.

"Hey Luz"

"Um hey Dante" she waved at me with a gloomy tone of voice and she sounded a bit nervous as way.

She seems a lot more quiet as well.

"So how ya been" she really did seem sad but I wasn't gonna point that out right now.

"I'm good, but I'm just not ready for another year of this horrible school". She kept walking.

She always said she was good no matter what she was going through. "I could walk with you, or would you rather have me leave you alone" I usually try my best to avoid social situations, but this is an old friend and she seemed sad.

"I mean I don't mind it" she shrugged and started walking ahead again. We talked while we walked to school, mostly about what we did over summer, and we even talked about Amity. I still think Luz has massive crush on her.

We reached the school and walked through the door where we saw all kinds of different people. The geeks who still played Fortnite even though they were 16 years old and didn't have any metal issues, the school drug dealers hanging around the younger and more impressionable kids, at one point Luz was roped in to vaping and taking other substances like molly and even LSD. I'm not gonna lie I tried some of these drugs with her, and it was kind of fun but I felt terrible after that, but we'll talk later about that. The jocks and cheerleaders were the worst group of people by far, some are actually pretty nice but are just grouped up with them. Just a generic high school, with generic students and teachers.

Sorry if this story is bad or too short, this is my first time writing anything like this. Hope you enjoy.
