Rose's POV

It took almost a week for the chaos to settle down. This time, I took Nathan's advice to heart and relaxed at home, watching sappy Korean dramas with Hannah and playing games with the guys. The gang of us spent plenty of hours trying out exotic recipes in the island kitchen until a few attempts actually had us calling for external help.

By the tenth day of my forced holiday, I was irked enough to storm into the office during the early morning rush hour. Of course, I wasn't alone.

"Rose, you said that we're going to the mall for a sale!" Hannah whined, as she reluctantly removed her shades.

"Well, that was the only way to convince the guys to let me out," I grinned. "Come on, the issue has blown over. We'll be fine."

Hannah still seemed unconvinced as we stood at the elevator doors.

Sure enough, a few employees that I wasn't familiar with eyed me, their gazes revealing the perplexity they held towards the company 'traitor'.

"Can I help you?" I asked a young man who outright gawked at me.

"Is it true?" he replied.

"What do you mean?"

"I heard that the CEO's assistant will be transferred."

What? I blinked.

"But... I am his assistant," I muttered. "His only assistant."

"Yes," he smiled, bemused. "Didn't you sign up for the PAE program?"

"Ah, so that's what you're talking about." I nodded in agreement. "I was not expecting the results for another two months."

"Well, it has already been e-mailed," he held out his hand. "Tristan. You and I are among the four selected from Knight International."

"Rose," I shook his hand warmly. "Here's to a potentially better future."

Personal Assistants Exchange was an exclusive program, where top assistants and interns of high-end companies had a chance at aiming higher.

The program was similar to an auction. Our details are achievements would be entered into a system, where higher management personnel had access to our information and the right to place a price to poach us. In other words, the establishment that pays the highest salary has the complete right to claim a person for six months.

During these six months, the employees selected within the program must publically represent the companies that have hired them. Sometimes, the workload has been known to cause extreme pressure and many have also never recovered.

For those who do, they get a shining recommendation that has the entire business industry kneeling at their feet. The prestige, the experience and the connections made from such a working environment can never be underestimated.

Keith knew that I didn't want to remain as an assistant all my life. Six months of PAE would give me a new lead on life to start a journey of my own. To cross my boundaries, break through comfort zones, and move on from my past.

Rather, it would help me face my past.

"Did you get into the selections?" Hannah whispered earnestly as we waited for the elevator to clear out.

"Yes," I held up my phone screen to show her my inbox. "I recieved it less than an hour ago."

"Party!" She squealed, ignoring the disproving stares around us as she clung to my arm. "Dad will be so proud."

"I'm sure he will." Afterall, Keith had been training me for a whole year.

"Did you have a preference on whom you want to work with?"
