Puhar was suddenly an exciting place to live.
The morning dawned bright and glorious and I was looking forward to this brand-new day.
"Good morning grandma!" I found her in the kitchen busy with the morning chores.
"Someone is bright and chirpy today." she smiled and placed some sugar candies - the Lord's Prasadam in my hand.
"All thanks to you!" I grinned back and took the offerings.
"You are giving this old lady too much credit," she brushed aside my compliment. I could however see a pleased smile on her face. "Are you leaving now?" she asked me. "Yes. I am waiting for your friend Sassi." I teased her.
She laughed. "So, how did you find my friend?" she questioned me.
I pretended to ponder over the question. "Well. He is pretty decent. I am also impressed with the fact that he taught my grandma English!"
"Yes, of course." She proudly replied. "Don't forget, he also taught me how to use the what'sapp!"
"Very talented friend you have grandma!"
We both laughed. "I think Sassi is here," she told me.
Oh!
I could hear a bell ringing. I peeked out. Grandma was right. Sassi was waiting for me on his bicycle. He waved his hand when he saw me peeking at him.
"Here, take this with you." I looked at grandma in surprise when she placed a basket in my hand. "Share your breakfast with him. I have packed some hot Idlis with coconut chutney."
"Grandma!" I groaned.
"Good breakfast means a good day!" were her wise words.
I couldn't argue with her logic. "Okay," I gave in.

"I thought we were going to walk," I eyed his bicycle with trepidation.
"You can trust her," he patted the handlebar fondly.
"Insane," I grumbled.
"Ouch! Watch it. She has feelings too."
I glared at him.
"Hop on. You are safe with me."
"You better mean it," I threatened him.
"How am I supposed to sit on this?" I pointed at the most uncomfortable seat I have ever seen.
"Have you never been on a bicycle?" he was clearly surprised. "Nope." I replied. "It's going to be an adventure then." He grinned.
Damn.
"Give me the basket first," he said taking it from my hands and hung it on the handlebar. "Now, sit sideways and hold on tight. I don't want you falling off and later complaining to grandma."
"Hold on to what?" I questioned him.
"Me," he gave me a bright smile.
Flirting again. Oh boy.
"Get serious," I warned him.
"I am serious."
I rolled my eyes and reluctantly sat behind him in a prim and proper fashion. To my horror the bicycle wobbled.
"Hey," I yelled in fear and grabbed him for support. "Don't do that!" I warned him.
He laughed. "Don't worry," he assured me and patted my hand.
