After screaming Love Story on the top of my lungs in my sleepy little town, we reach Mason's house. He didn't live all that far from us, about 3-4 blocks. Arlo and I used to bike there when we were younger to hang out, vice versa. He lived in a nice farm style type of house that you could find using pinterest, easily. His parents were high school sweethearts and never left our little town of Gold Haven. A cheesy name too, I know, but we didn't decide on it. Mason came running down his drive-way, surfboard in his arms. His golden curls were still slightly wet, so he must've just gotten out of the shower recently. He was wearing board shorts and a random sweater he probably grabbed on his way out.

"Hey Arlo", he daps up Arlo with his freehand before putting the surfboard to stick out of the back. He gets into the backseat, behind the driver seat and Arlo starts to drive away from our neighborhood. I turn and say "Known you for 13 years, and you still greet Arlo before thinking about me?". He replies "Hello Autumn" knowing no one really calls me by my full name and smirks. I laugh it off, chuckling while saying

"Mason Kingsley, if I could kick you right now, I would"

"So where is your partner-in-crime?", Mason says childishly

"We are picking her up after we grab some gas-" Arlo says before I interrupted him

"You're just jealous I'm closer to her than I am you"

"Mhm! It's totally unfair, I've known you longer"

"Well, she just knows me better than you"

"Give me a chance to and I will top her knowledge" he says with a suggestive smirk.

Arlo groans with disgust, "Okay, can you not flirt with her right now?" while I fake gag.

Mason laughs, "You know I'm just joking with you"

But I know he isn't.

Arlo turns into the gas station and jumps out of the car to start filling it up.

"I'm going to go grab us some snacks just in case" I yell out towards him to which he just nods to acknowledge me, mid-sentence into a conversation with Mason. To be honest, he was probably catching Mason up with his latest fling, Arlo seems to be quiet and gentle, but I've sadly walked into one too many 'activities' of his.

I walk into the gas station to realize I forgot my wallet, so I walk back towards the car to grab it out of my bag. Mason sees me and goes, "Hey, wait I need to grab something". Arlo somewhat disappointed by the loss of his gossip buddy.

"So what's going on with you Auty?"

"Nothing much, avoiding packing"

"Still? Your move-in day is in like four days"

"Keeping tracks on me now?"

He stammers, "N- No, it's just basically the same as Arlo"

"Arlo has almost another week more than me"

"I-"

"So who's the new girl this time?" I try to change the topic quickly while looking around the chip aisle for Kayla and I's favorite.

"What do you mean new girl?" Mason says while playing ignorant

I turn and throw him a look, "Really this game again"

"It's Maddie, you know Madison Stewert"

I finally spot the Luau Bbq chips and grab them, "The little girl from yearbook?"

"Apparently Arlo has been eyeing her since the senior night party, but could never earn the balls to ask her" he says while I walk to the cashier and buy the chips.
