When I made it to the grounds where the "party" would be held I saw tons of wolves I hadn't seen before. I had been gone a long time so it was no surprise other wolves would join this gathering. All the wolves here were young around my age, and of course all single. I hated the reason they had for this party. Humans give it time to meet other humans, and they tend to spend most of their lives with other suitors. I thought that a much better way of finding a mate. You know to get to know them better before saying you want to spend the rest of your life with them. Since I was of the age, I could find a mate anywhere, anytime, and it could be anyone. But I really didn't want to think of that, I'd keep my head low and make it through this party, and then never have to see the wolves ever again. I headed towards the big stalls they had setting up near the woods, and shifted so I could put clothes on. As I was walking out I was tackled, but before hitting the ground I shifted my legs so they were pressed against the assulters chest, and used every ounce of force to kick them off of me, sending them tumbling across the grass. They landed on there back face up, I did as well but obviously not as hard. "Who the hell do you think you-" I was cut of by a familiar voice. "Is this how you greet everyone who try's to hug you. Damn Ally, you still have one hell of a kick." I stared shocked at the girl in front of me. My one and only best friend Summer Darenger. She had dyed her long curly hair purple, and her bronze skin looked healthier than I remembered. "NO this is not how I greet everyone who hugs me." I say with a smile creeping up on my face. "This is how I greet people who tackle me from out of nowhere." I offer her a hand once I'm on my feet. She smiled up at me big and wide before taking my hand. I hadn't seen her in a long time I was just so surprised. Although I should have suspected that she would be here since shes of the age now to, plus her brother was here. Oh I might have forgot to mention that my best friend is the sister of an alpha. Not just any alpha, but the one I cant stand, Jack. I was hoping that he would have found a mate and be occupied with her so that maybe he would not see me and come to criticize everything I do tonight. I guess I would just have to see. Although to my luck I didn't- scratch that I do see him, by himself drinking. By the way he was walking he looked drunk. His usual neat black curly hair was now messy and ruffled, and his red t-shirt was rumpled and not at all professional for someone who was supposed to be representing a pack. I sighed and shook my head, that's very like him. Summers staring at me, and I jump a little. "Doesn't feel good does it. So stop staring at my brother like your analyzing his master evil plan for tonight." I dont argue with her because I know it would be pointless. "You haven't changed, have you?" I smile at her. She just shakes her head, "Nope. But you have, love the hair by the way. Anyway, the last time I saw you, you had packed your bags and swore you would never come back because you said, and I quote, It feels like a prison here. But here you are, back again."
One thing you should know about me is, I may have said we couldn't do as we please, well the truth is it was only I who could not do as I pleased. You see my father was best friends with the former alpha which meant I got restricted to more than the alphas own children. I thought the only way to do what i wanted, and to live a happy life, was to leave this one behind. There's a difference now though. The former alpha is dead and my father is just barely holding on. Hes been in the hospital for over a month now and he is only getting worse. His bad alcohol addiction was bond to kill him, but who knew this soon. I didn't care, he didn't so I didn't.
Now that you know that, it will help you understand better why I am the way I am.
"Just for tonight, then im done." I tell her she smiles at me. "Sure." She hugs me extra tight "I'm just glad to see you."
We dance for hours before the alphas announce that on the next full moon they will have a ball. To celebrate the month of may. I knew this happened, I had never been to one but I had seen women in elegant dresses and glorious jewelry. The one thing the humans didn't have was these such dresses. I expect to see Jack acting a fool but he just stands back and watches with a serious face before noticing me and meeting my gaze. I narrow my eyebrows at him but I'm still the first to look away. I dont hear what they say last but the announcement seems to be over. It didn't matter anyway I had no use for this information considering I'd never use it. I stare at Summer, "hey imma go to the drink table and get somthing to drink before I leave, want anything?" She whines "awe! Your leaving so soon? But why?" I roll my eyes." Dont pull that whine thing, and you know why, you want anything or not?" She sighs "fine, some of the red wine please." I nod before heading that way. The music's so loud I cant concentrate. Suddenly I bump into someone, almost falling straight to the ground. But a hand catches my wrist before a can. I feel a shock in my skin and pull back quickly, suddenly I feel to hot and uncomfortable in my own skin I quickly look up to thank the person who caught me so I can leave. When I lift my head its Jack. His face looks flushed but hes looking at his hand. I stare at it but there doesn't seem to be any thing wrong with it. I pause, something's not right here.
I feel dizzy, but the moment when Jack looks me in the eyes I cant look away, it's like I'm drawn to it. He doesn't look away either." Why did you step on me?" He says, I blink suddenly out of my trance "what?" I'm so confused. He frowns "You know what, I've been stepped on all night. Every one thinks that they can step on my feet, but why? What have my feet done to you?" He stares down at his feet pointing, and stumbling a little."what did you do?" Hes clearly drunk out of his mind. I sigh regretting this decision I'm about to make. "Here let me help you to your sister so she can take you home." He looks at me like he's considering. "No." He says. I growl "why not?" I ask through gritted teeth. "Because the last time you touched me I think you shocked me, and I feel like it got way to hot in here." I sigh, a little confused he felt that too. "Jack first off we are not in here because we are out side, second your way to drunk to not go home so unless you want me to scream for your sister and embarrass you in front of everyone I suggest you let me lead you to her." He stares at me before smirking. "Well if I must be held captive it might as well be by some one as pretty as you. Very well, lead the way." He sticks out his wrist for me to grab. I find my self for some strange reason flushing at his words. I grab his wrist and lead him to Summer who agrees she should take him home.
We say our goodbyes as we both leave the party early, but the last thing I remember is Jack turning back to smile at me before we leave. It was a mocking smile that left me angry for helping him. I walked home instead of shifting needing to clear my head.
what was that feeling when he touched me?
