Warning: It's quite of a general fiction. The ending isn't actually happy. Might skip it.

"Y/N?" A voice said right after I held the receiver up to my ear.

It was a busy day like ever. I was hurrying up for my upcoming scheduled meeting which was within less than an hour.

My heart started racing inside it's shell after recognizing the person's voice from the call. Jimin. I hated how my body reacted just by the fragment of his existence even today.

I stayed quiet for a bit of moment, processing my reply.

"Yeah, you're supposed to say 'hello' instead of calling my name." I finally replied with a light chuckle.

"I-uh.. I'm-" He paused."Could I-ah possibly get a bit of your precious time, please?"

"Okay," I said, sounding like I'm questioning instead of simply replying with an answer.

"I-I just called you to say that I'm sorry. I know that a sorry won't help but I really am."

"Hey! What are you sorry for?" I faked asking even when I precisely knew what he was referring to. "Oh c'mon, it's been months and we still talk, right? You don't need to be sorry. The best thing I like about now is that you are quite open with your heart and more hilarious than I've had ever expected. We are friends, and that's beautiful."

"I like it too. You smile fondly when I'm watching. We hang out like best buddies." He sighed. "But I'm not a kid to never recognize the sadness that lingers behind your smiles. And I hate that you try to conceal it all the best way you can. Stop doing that, I don't deserve it."

"Jimin-"

"Let me finish, please listen. Please listen... Y/N, I'm filled with flaws. I've hurt you since the very beginning when all you deserved was love and adoration. I've promised myself to be a better person every morning I woke up j-just to not let myself lose someone like you." He paused with a sloppy voice. "I loved your company but I expressed it only when no one was around. That's unfair. I prioritized everyone whether they be necessary or not except you. We didn't work out well because I was so imperfect and self centered. You tried keeping me but as time went by, I grew toxic. You didn't want to force your feelings on me and so a time came when you let me leave. 'You can't make anyone love you forcefully,' you used to say. And I thought you've had enough of me when all you wanted was for me to be happy."

"Hey! You're overthinking. Are you feeling lonely?" I said, trying to ease him up. He's just being anxious. It's been more than five months since we got parted, and started fresh with friendship.

I felt like getting pulled into an unknown gloom as he continued speaking.

"The regret is killing me everyday. I never deserved you. Saying these wouldn't make a difference. I can't rewind the past and rectify everything."

"Jimin, you're just overthinking. I was sad initially but I got over it, and I'm doing great. We get along a lot better than before. Stop feeling low, you'll end up depressed for no particular reason." I continued. "You are more kind and human than guys I've ever met, trust me. I adore you as a human being. Uh.. maybe we were destined to friendship, I guess?"

"Are you trying to comfort me?" He said, sounding fragile, like he was sobbing in silence.

"Nah, I'm just being frank. Let's go out for a meal tonight, what do you say?"

"Y/N, if you meant it or even a bit of you believes me as a being of kind nature, please give me a chance to prove it. I love you, and I promise to value every moment of your existence. I love you."

My heart was a betrayer for continuing it's rush-out-of-the-cage pace. I couldn't really come up with a conclusion in my mind.

If I'm told to listen to my first thought, I'd have gotten back with him. But us being together never ran smooth. I loved him but loving him merely felt like a slow poisoning supplement.
