Dear Diary,
A flower.... that's what I received today. It wasn't the first one I've been given. I am, what most people would refer to as, the popular girl. I have the "perfect body" and I get good grades. Many boys and girls alike have given me bouquets of flowers or packages of candies. This one was different though, it was a single flower, and my favorite one nonetheless. It was a single daisy, and it looked freshly plucked. It had been placed in my locker and was dangling from the slits in the top of it. When I saw it I had took my water bottle and placed the stem of the flower into it. I stashed the bottle in my locker for later today, it still looks fresh. I now have it in a vase on my dresser. I like this one. I cannot wait for school tomorrow so I can figure out who gave it to me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
It's lunch time and I'm eating at my favorite spot on school grounds. Most people don't know about this little nook behind the trees, and the ones that do think little of it. I like to sit on this old stump and eat my lunch. It's a nice sense of quiet. There's even some daisies in a field nearby that I visit often. Well I did just finish my bento, I'll go smell the flowers.
I walked over, running my hands over the tall grasses. So calming. I bend down when I see a broken daisy and some deer prints. "How unfortunate for this poor little flower," I mumbled as I released it from my grasp. I stood up and brushed the pollen off of my skirt. Looking up at the bright sun, I released a loud sigh. I abruptly turned around and started back towards the school, completely unaware of the person hiding behind a nearby tree.
It's now the end of the day and I'm on my way to debate club. I think the meeting might've been cancelled, but I can't really remember. I furrowed my eyebrows and continued on my way.
As I approached the door to the club room, I saw the lights off and couldn't see anyone nearby. I guess it really was cancelled after all. Kai, my elder brother, isn't going to be here for at least an hour. I guess I could go to the field.
I walked out of the school and through my favorite spot to make it to the field. I felt the breeze tickle my neck and it gave me the chills, the good kind of chills. I lightly smiled as I smelled the daisies once more only to see a foot. I jumped back and yelped before falling on my butt. The foot began to move and I soon realized it was connected to body. It was a boy with bright eyes. I would describe them as......biscotti is the best color name to match them. He has muscular arms and spiky, two-toned hair. His eyebrows are very prominent. He looks almost like our school mascot....the owl. "Who are you?" I asked calmly. "I'M Kotaro Bokuto, but just call me Bokuto," he responded with an enthusiastic pip to him. That name sounds familiar. "I'm Y/n Ito, but I prefer to be called y/n," I responded with a light smile. He's wearing the school uniform and he looks my age. "I know who you are! You're the super popular one!" he said as he stood up, brushing himself off. "I guess," I responded as I did the same.
"I'm the Captain of the boys' volleyball team," he said giddily as we walked back over to the school. So that's why he was so familiar. Though I'm popular, I'm not very social and have barely any real friends so I tend to keep to myself. I've never been to any of his games, though I heard he was quite good. "It's nice to formally meet you, I'm the President of the Debate club and Vice President of the Photography club," I said as bowed. "Hey! No need to be so formal with me," he said with a laugh before bowing down himself. I nodded and continued walking. "Shouldn't you be at afternoon practice?" I asked curtly. "No, all club activities were cancelled," he said with a sigh. "So that's why no one was there for the club meeting," I mumbled with furrowed brows. He just laughed at me.
I looked down at the watch that adorned my wrist. Hmm. About 13 minutes until Kai comes to pick me up. "So why were you........doing whatever that was in the field?" I asked to clear the dense awkwardness. "Oh! That's where I go all the time during lunch and such. I occasionally see you there, but I usually leave before then since my lunch starts before yours and ends before it too!" he said. So enthusiastic. "Oh, that's nice. So you like the daisies too?" I said trying to keep the conversation going. "Yeah! They're my favorite! I could tell you liked them so I put one in your locker. Did you get it?" he said with wide eyes, making him like even more of and owl. So it was him. That's very sweet. "Yes I got it, I put it in a vase in my room. Thank you," I said with a smile. He smiled even wider than I did, his eyes creasing. When we finally stopped talking and made it to the front of the school building, I saw Kai in his car waiting for me.
Excuse me Bokuto, I must leave. My brother is here to pick me up. It was nice talking to you, we should do it again sometime," I said with a small smile as I walked over to my brother's car and hopped in. Bokuto waved as we began to drive away.
"Who was that guy?" Kai asked. "He's not a guy, he's a third year like me. He's the captain of the boys' volleyball team," I responded. "Well why are you hanging out with him after school hmm? Are you two dating? Where did you meet?" he pressed. "I just met him in a field and club activities were cancelled for the day so we talked and hung out while I waited for you," I responded. "You met in a field?!" he exploded. "Yes we met in a field of daisies," I responded as I looked out the window. "Why were you in a field during school?" he scolded. "I go there during lunch and when I learned that debate club was canceled I decided to go there," I said with a sigh. "Still! You shouldn't just talk to random people!" he yelled as he turned into our driveway. We don't live very far away from the school yet he still insists on driving me to and from school.
