"Y/n.....I know it's going to be obvious but you need it! You'll die if you don't!" Kei yelled at me.

It's been a few weeks since I was given the flower crown. It's a distant memory now.

"I don't need it. I'll die and it'll be okay. If my time to go is soon then I must leave," I said with a tear stained face. "Your time isn't now! Just say yes so we can spend more time together! You can hang out with that boy! There's so much you haven't experienced!" he retorted. "I. Don't. Need. To. Be. On. Oxygen," I replied. "Yes you do! It's getting to the point we'll lose you in a few weeks! I'm putting you in a hospital, or you're going to be on oxygen. You can choose," he said as he turned around.

"I don't want them to worry about me.....I can't do that to Ko...." I whispered with a little cry. He walked away and I ran out of the house.

"Ko! Ko I n-need you!" I yelled as I pounded on his door. It's almost one in the morning, but I need him. "Y-y/n? What's wrong? Why are you crying?" his mother questioned when she opened the door. "I-I....I need Ko..." I cried out. She pulled me into a hug and brought me inside. "Go ahead upstairs....he's in his room," she said as she pushed me lightly.

I stumbled into his room. My chest hurts so much and I can barely breathe. I turned the light on. He rolled over and covered his eyes. "K-Ko...." I murmured as I collapsed onto his bed. "Wait, Y/n? Is that you? What's wrong? Why are you here?" he said as he turned to me.

I just slowly crawled towards him. "Y/n? Why are you crying?" he asked as he sat up and looked at my decrepit form. He pulled me into his chest and stroked my hair. "I-I.....I'm going to......t-to die!" I cried into him. "What do you mean? You're not going to die! I'm protecting you," he said as he rested his chin on my head. "No! I-I I'm going to d-die!" I said sobbing harder. He pulled me on top of him and placed his arms around me gently. I heard him whisper repeatedly, "It's alright." His soft murmurs eventually lulled me to sleep. I was cradled in his arms. Puffy cheeks and bloodshot eyes; The image of broken.

"Y/n...y/n wake up....." I heard the boy say into my ear softly. I opened my eyes and felt a pain in my head and a stinging in my throat. "Are you okay?" he asked as he lifted me off of him gently. I nodded. My throat is so dry. "Here have some water," he said as he handed me a glass of water. I took it and slowly drank the liquid. He took it back and placed it on his night stand.

"Wanna tell me why you came to my house crying at one in the morning?" he asked slowly. I nodded and began to explain. "I have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, also known as COPD. It's a chronic inflammatory lung disease...." I said as I rolled over to face away from him. He grabbed my shoulder gently. "It's going to kill you?" he whispered breathlessly. "If I don't go on oxygen then most likely. I'll still die eventually, but if I go on Oxygen then I'll have more time at the very least. We haven't had enough money to get me into the hospital nor to buy me the oxygen machine. Now that Kei got another job he has enough money to buy one, but I don't want it," I said as I began to stand up, wobbling a bit. "Then go on oxygen! I haven't spent enough time with you for you to go so soon!" he said quickly.

The silence that followed his statement was unbearable so I turned around and asked, "Will you go on a date with me?" He looked starstruck. His face reddened and his eyes widened. "I was supposed to ask you! I'd love to, but don't change the subject!" he said as he walked around his bed to hug me. "I can't change the fact that I'm going to die. Everyone has to eventually, I just have to go before them...." I trailed off as he planted a kiss on my forehead. "I'm not letting you," he said as he pulled away.

"So y/n......I made you some breakfast, but you need to tell your brother your okay. I bet he's worried sick," she said. I looked at the table to see Nori, Gohan, and some Kobachi too. "This is a bit too much for me, you didn't have to make all this," I said as I bowed. "Oh it's nothing! Come on! Eat up!" she said as she pushed me down into a chair. I ate the food until my stomach was bloated.

After I finished eating, Ko gave me some clothes so I could wash up. I really do look terrible. I showered before slipping his clothes on. Once again his shirt was huge on me, reaching the middle of my thighs. I walked out of the bathroom and turned to Ko. "I have to go now.......I-I.....Thank you....." I said as he stared at me. "What time should I come to your house for our date?" he asked. My eyes widened. "I-I'll come get you. It'll be a surprise," I replied as I walked down the stairs. "Thank you for letting me stay, but I have to leave now," I said as I bowed to his mother. "The pleasure was all mine! Come any time you like okay?" she said as I walked through the door with a nod.

When I got home, Kei was nowhere to be seen. I looked at the table and saw a note.

Dear Y/n,

I had already ordered your portable oxygen thing a few weeks ago. I'm going to pick it up. I'll be back in a few hours. Don't be mad at me. I love you.

I sighed as I read it. I'll already be gone by the time he's back. I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote,

Dear Kei,

I'm not mad, but I'm not going to be home for a while. I'm going on a date with Ko. See you later.

And with that, I walked upstairs to get ready.

I was already showered, but my hair is still damp and I need to change. We're going there, so I don't need to dress up too much... but I still need to be presentable.

I threw on my black and white plaid skater skirt and matched it with my black pleated shirt. I put on some black thigh-high stockings and slipped my feet into my favorite white flats.

I checked myself in the mirror before texting the number Ko had given me earlier in the week.

And with that, I walked out of the house, my grip on the house key tight.
