When you wake up and do your usual moring routine you dont expect that day to hold many memories. You don't expect a day of fortune or a day of goodluck. You just expect a normal day, with normal people, normal job, just plain old normal.
Well that was me today, my usual walk to work with my best friend and work mate, Amy. My usual lunch break by myself. My usual day, boring old day.
"Jeez Aves, your break ended 5 minutes ago. That's a new best!" Amy teasing me about my infamous late arrivals was the usual on any day we worked.
"haha hilarious" Our ridiculous banter could go on for hours and always end in us lying on the ground with tears in our eyes. "Go on your break already, oh and your usual place sold out" i said holding up the bag with the last few donuts inside. Amy walked out of the store with her glare fixed on me.
Amy walked back in after ten seconds of being gone.
"Aw missed me already?" I said in a voice you would use around a two year old.
"Ew no, i was just saying that there's a guy in the change rooms." I pouted while she left the store laughing.
A few minutes after Amy left, I heard shuffling from the other side of the store. I looked up and saw an elderly man sorting through the suits.
"Hello sir, do you need any help?'
"Yes please, my wife is having a formal party and the only clothing i own is polo's and khakis." he said pointing to his clothes, which indeed was a pair of khakis matched with a polo shirt.
I laughed and gave him a suit to try on.
"Try this on and i'll wait out her to see if you need a bigger or smaller size." I showed him to the change rooms and waited outside.
"excuse me? I need one size smaller please"
"of course i'll be right back" I walked over to the stand to find that there was not a smaller size in that suit, so i chose another suit and went to turn around when i walked into someone.
"Jeez Amy you scared me to death" I said holding my hand to my chest.
"Oh, I'm not even sorry" She laughed while walking off towards the counter.
I went back to the change rooms and gave the man the suit and explained to him why it was different.
"Alright this one fits quite well" the man said walking out of the change room.
"yup that looks all good." i smiled at him, before he went to change back into his other clothes.
"'I'll meet you at the counter if you would like to buy it?"
"yes thank you"
i walked over to the counter and decided to talk to Amy.
"There wasn't actually a guy in the change rooms was there?"
"What? Yes there was" Amy looked at me, confusion all over her face.
"i'll go check after i serve this man" i said looking over my shoulder to see he was walking towards the counter.
"Is this all for today sir?" I asked scanning the bar code on the suit.
"Yes, and thank you you've been a wonderful help!" he said while put his suit into a suit bag.
"It's my job but you're very welcome" i smiled at him. "And that adds up to $98.50" The man handed me $150 and i counted up the change before he stopped me.
"No keep the change, as a thank you!" he smiled but before i could give the money back, he grabbed the suit and dashed out of the store.
I turned to Amy, "well I'll buy dinner tonight!" She laughed and continued with her work, while i went to check the change room for the mysterious guy.
"Hello is anyone in here?" I asked checking sall the change rooms, twice. and finding them all empty.
I walked back in to see Amy sitting on the counter, playing a game on her phone.
"The change rooms were all empty." I told her before she burst out laughing.
"There wasn't actually anyone in there you dork!" she said through short breaths and small giggles.
"I hate you, buy your own dinner tonight, you lemon!" I pouted.
"No you don't, and I want pizza tonight" she said while getting up to hug me.
"Fine, fine just get off me please!" I said, once she let go we burst out into laughter.
