Matt's pov

After another day at the office,  we were making progress and it had been decided that Mira will  share my office with me since we didn't have any extra office due to the ongoing construction, and also it was an obvious choice since my office is unnecessarily  big

I arrived  at my apartment a bit later than usual,  Jen was waiting for me we had to go to my parent's  house for dinner , once a week every week we go there , dad's  orders he wants us to always be tight as a family if you ask me he's  just lonely with his wife since all of us the children no longer lives there.

"Hey , give me ten minutes to shower and we'll  go" i told Jen , she came up to me and gave me a kiss , which i gladly returned. Then went upstairs , took a shower , changed into something casual , jeans and a tee , and then we were ready to go.

"So , what was the business trip about?" Jen asked on our way to my parent's  house , i was driving. "It wasn't  a business  trip i just met up with Zander  that's all" i told her , she shook her head "So you and your dad lied to me , why would you do that , its not like if you told me i would've  stopped you , i know i don't like him but i respect the fact that he's  your friend , is there something i'm missing perhaps Matthew?"

"You are mot missing anything Jen , i needed to get some fresh air so i went outta town , then met up with zander , that's it , as to why  i said it was a business trip  i just didn't feel like answering  your questions  okay? I didn't  feel like explaining  why i was going outta town, that's it , i still don't feel like explaining  so can we just drop it?"

Jen shook her head , "Sometimes i feel like i'm in this relationship  alone Matt , and i doubt  that's how a girl should feel when she's on the verge of marring the man she loves, do you not wanna get married anymore is that it?" She asked tears running down her cheeks. I felt bad i led her on for so long even though i knew i didn't love her , she didn't  deserve  that, she doesn't  deserve  to be treated like this , i have to end this , i have to stop being selfish and just let her go , Zander  was right Jen deserves to be happy.

"We are here, lets go" i told her right as i pulled over in my dad's  driveway. I got out of the car and went straight  for the door without  looking back , i do want to have this conversation  with Jen just not now , later at home when we're  not surrounded by my family.

I waited for her to come before i rang the door bell. "We'll  talk about this later when we get home , lets just get this dinner over and done with first" i explained  to Jen she nodded and i rang the bell , Lacey opened the door and  she jumped at me , i really miss living in the same house as her, she's  my favourite  woman in the whole world , "woah! , you're  not a tiny little girl anymore , warn me before jumping at me at least" i told her as i balanced  her in my arms  , she made a face i couldn't  help but laugh at.

"Dear brother Matt , are you saying im fat?" I shook my head  so fast , i heard Jen laugh at me. "Hi Lacey , is everyone  inside?" Jen asked Lacey nodded and Jen went inside. I placed Lacey down and was about to enter the house as well when she stopped me , "Are you okay Matt , dad told me you were outta town for a while , are you feeling okay? you look like you havent been slepping well as well , is something bothering you?" i shook my head and held her hand "something is bothering me but its nothing i cant handle , i'll be fine both me and my business" she laughed out loud , "what a relief i thought you wer bothered about something personal , but its just a business problem" we began walking inside the house "a 600 million dollars   worth business problem dont forget that." she laughed with me , "although im very impressed little sis , at your tender age of 21 you noticed that something was wrong with me thats dope" i told her honestly.

When we got inside Ashton came running down the stairs , "No running down the stairs!" mom shouted , "Mom im too old to be scolded and if i fall i'll pay for my own hospital bill so dont worry" lacey and i laughed at his poor  explaining skills. "Brother , my favourite person i the whole world , have i told you how much you mean to me? , have i told you exactly how much i love you?" i rolled my eyes , "Im guessing you want something from me? what do you want Ashton?" i replied , "i just want to appreciate my borther in front of the whole world , i want everyone to know that i love you>." Lacey and i shook our heads  while he went on and on and on about how much he really loves me , and appreciates me and how much im a hero to him.

We sat down to eat but Ashton never stopped praising me , whatever it is he wanted has to be really huge , because he has neve went on this long without mentioning what he wants. I had to ask i couldnt wait anylonger soi did "Okay Ashton we get it im great , what is it that you want and you better tell me because if you dont tell me now youre never gonna get it" he looked at me wide eyed and then spoke " Im writing an article about Miracle Singo , i know shes working with you , i also know that you guys met in Middle East at the awards where you won big last year and people who were there , said that you were pretty close , some even mistook you guys for a couple , youre the only person i know who seems like has an idea of who she might be as a person , personally i mean. So can you help me understand her better?"

I looked at Ashton and knew by the look he gave me that this case means a lot to him , he fought a huge battle with our mother in order for him to become a journalist and not a business man , she had wanted him and not me to take over from our dad but his heart belonged to journalism , he is always trying to prove that hes an amazing journalist especially to our mother hes not there yet but hes on his way over there. But what can i tell you brother , i love that woman and if i even dare say something i might reveal that simple fact.

" I dont know her that well , shes nice though ill tell you that much , shes also very adorable and cute , you wouldnt think she as smart as she is if you met her on a personal level, she is also very blunt which can come off as mean , she hates riddles , if you want something from her , tell her exactly what it is you want , if youre mad at her tell her , otherwise shell just leave you hanging, she hates it when people do that, shes super focussed as well so if youre working with her try to match up to her in terms of focus  otherwise she wont hesitate to stop working with you , but most importantly though , her family never ever try to speak ill of them, i have only met her dad but i hear theyre all super cool " i exhaled feeling everyones eyes on me , "i only know what i know from an enemys level because she hates me , and also from a pointy of friedship , but i only expirienced her friendship in middle east last year like you said we were very close then  i dont blame anyone who thought we were a couple. Im  working with her come to the office and maybe you might be lucky and she agrees to talk to you just keep what i said in mind , also if  you can befriend her , it might earn me some points and shed stop  being mean" i shrugged .

"If i didnt know any better id say youre in love with her " dad suddenly spoke and everyone laughed no knowing just how true that statement is, " if i wasnt already taken im sure id fall in love with her , shes a great human bieng" , Ashton was now interested " So why does she hate you?" he asked , "Well come to the office tomorrow and convince her to allow you o write this article about her who knows maybe youll find out for me" everyone laughed.
" But on the serious though Matt , why does she hate you?" Ashton askd again . " Well its quite personal , i dont feel comfortable discussing it with a journalist but lets just say i deserve it" i shrugged and continued to eat. The dinner continiued well and it was absolutely amazing. I love my family , and this dinner is one of the very few things that always assured me on the reasons why.

The drive home was silent , i knew Jen was mad at me but i really wasnt in the mood to do this today. but i had to she deserves the truth after all.

Once we arrived inside the house , i knew  i had to do it, so let the conversations begin in my mind.

"Jen im ready to talk if you are." she looked at me and then sat down next to me , "Im here  Matt talk to me." i looked at her and  i really had to tell her the truth, this is my friend, one of my closest friends a woman who knew before i even became Matthew Black , the only friend of mine who met Brandon.

I held her hands in mine and looked into her eyes " Jen , you know how i feel about you , you understand me and my reasons for marrying you , i know deep down youve always waited for me to finally fall for you but its not happening , the truth is that i am in love with someone else, my heart belongs to  some other person  and im sorry that that  person is not you , i  dont know how they feel about me if they love me or not but i love them, and its not fair for me to go on pretending like i still want to marry you when i know  want them" i explained , the pained look in her eyes broke my heart , its not fair that she has to go through this.

She stood up and just left to the bedroom , i mean she couldve said anything i think that wouldve been better but i just told her i cant marry her anymore , the least i can do is give her is the space to go through this in her own way.

ON A STORY POINT THOUGH , HE FINALLY DID IT HE TOLD HER MAYBE NOT THE WHOLE TRUTH BUT HE DID , ARE WE EXCITED?
