Alec and his Cinderella

Chapter Five

They arrive in Port Angeles "Have you been able to narrow down her location?" Alec asked "Not exactly...because I have very little to go on I can't be too specific, but she is still here...and in that direction" Demetri replied pointing "Good that means we can shop a little while we find her. Come on" Ness said grabbing Demetri's hand and pulling him in that direction; which just happened to be in the same direction as her favourite shop, Alec following them with a huge grin on his face "Looks like you've made a new friend Demetri" "So it would seem" He replied.

"Please can we make a quick stop in here?" Ness asks when they reach her favourite shop "Yea, go on. I'm going to walk around out here for a bit, see if I can find her" Alec says "Ok, we'll keep a look out too...once Ness is finished in here" Demetri added. Once inside the shop Ness picked out some jeans and a top, Demetri finding it funny how she quickly she glided around the shop and picked out the same pair of jeans in two different colours. "Come on Ness. I think she's close" Demetri said as they exited the shop and followed her tenor only to stop a few moments later "That's weird...I can't sense her now...it's like she's...disappeared" He sounded shocked, unsure how she could have just disappeared "The same thing happened at the Ball" Ness said looking up at Demetri "We'll keep looking, she's got to be around here somewhere" She added and he nodded in response.

Meanwhile Alec was walking around Port Angeles and noticed a girl with Y/H/C and feeling hopeful he slowly made his way towards her only to stop when a male voice called out "Kelly" and the girl turned around and that's when he realised it wasn't her.

Demetri and Ness met up with Alec an hour later and they could tell he still had her shoe in his pocket "No luck either then?" Ness asked "No, I thought I got close a few times but it wasn't her" Alec replied sadly "Can we just go home?" He asked sounding defeated "Of course. I just need to get this one an Iced Toffee Frappe first" Demetri said nodding at Ness "Ahh...the flavoured iced coffee drink she always gets on the ride home after a shopping trip" Alec said smiling "Glad you know what it is because I've no idea" Demetri replied before entering the coffee shop. Once Ness had her Frappe they got in the car and headed back to the Cullen house.

"Any luck Alec?" Esme asked gently as they entered the kitchen; Alec shook his head in response his face fixed with a sad smile and she noticed his eyes were glossy with venom "Come here sweetie" Esme said as she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a 'mum' hug. Demetri watched the scene before him "I've known him for so long I keep forgetting he's just a 17 year old" Demetri said low to Ness, although Esme and Alec heard too "Esme gives the best 'mum' hugs" Ness said low "Just don't tell my mum" She added "Your secret is safe with me Ness" Demetri replied "Should you feel the need for a 'mum' hug Demetri, as Ness calls them, you know where to find me" She smiled at him "Thank you Esme, I'll remember that" He replied smiling and noticed Alec tighten his hold on Esme a little "Come on Ness, let's give them some privacy. I think Alec needs some 'mom' advice to go with that hug" Demetri and Ness make their way up to Alec's room to wait for him.

"Is Demetri right? Do you need some advice or someone to talk to?" She asked softly and felt Alec nod against her chest "I'm sorry Esme...it's...it's not fair...I-I've been on my own for-for so long...and...and now I may have...finally found her...I-I've lost her" His body shaking slightly as he sobbed "You haven't lost her sweetie" She says stroking his hair "Demetri may be struggling to find her for reasons none of us know right now, but he won't leave until he has actually found her for you" She added "I know...he's a good friend, even if we don't always get along" Alec replied low "I think you're more than friends, considering how long you've known one another and worked together. I'd say you're more like family and all families fight but they stick together no matter what and they are always there when you need them. I mean he flew half way round the world just to help you find her" She said in that soft motherly tone Alec had come to love "Ness is right you do give good 'mom' hugs and you're also really good at motherly advice too" He smiled at her "Well I have seven children, including you and Bella and one granddaughter, motherly advice and hugs are all part of the job description" She replied smiling back at him, her hands cupping his face "I'm always here if you need me" She placed kiss to his forehead.

Demetri heard the conversation and was smiling too; hearing that Esme considered Alec her child after just a few months 'This really is a family' he thought to himself. "Your grandmother is an amazing woman Ness" "I know. We're lucky to have her" She replied smiling at him.

Later that afternoon Alec was sitting his room with Ness and Demetri, just staring at his book "Alec let's go hunting, it'll make you feel better" Ness suggested "I-I don't know..." Alec started "No come on Alec, Ness is right hunting will make you feel better" Demetri added "Fine...but we aren't allowed to hunt humans in Forks and not at all if Ness is coming with us" Alec replied "I think I can slum it for a bit" Demetri said smirking "Hey, don't slum it on my account. I'm not opposed to your diet" She replied low "Not going to happen Ness" Alec said looking at her and shaking his head "Fluffy woodland creatures for dinner it is then" Demetri said teasingly, Alec choked back a laugh and Ness smacked his chest lightly before they left to go hunting.

Demetri was amazed at how quickly Alec took down a Mountain Lion and drained it "Wow! You really have embraced the vegetarian lifestyle" "They don't taste as nice as humans but you get used it after a while" Alec responded "If you're going to have competition whilst hunting, it's better done with animals, don't you think?" He asked looking at Demetri "Oh I don't know. You can have fun hunting humans..." He trailed off when he noticed Ness was listening "You mean you let them think they've lost you but in reality you've just backed off abit waiting...for just the right moment to strike" Ness said as she pounced on Alec growling, making him fall over, Alec and Demetri laughing at her "It's as if she's watched you play hide and seek with your dinner" Alec said smiling "Alec" Demetri said giving him a pointed look "I do not play with my dinner...that often" "Just when you're out on missions right Dem?" She asked "Maybe...Sometimes" He replied "But for now we're hunting animals and I...am currently winning" He grinned at them "Well that just won't do" Ness said as she took off running, Alec and Demetri following.

Once they finished hunting the three of them returned home and got comfortable on Alec's bed with Ness in the middle and they watched Alec's favourite Disney film "Thanks guys. I needed tonight" Alec said smiling "Anytime Alec" Demetri replied. Ness fell asleep after a few movies and she rolled over her hand brushing against Demetri's cheek. He got a glimpse into her head; into her dreams "I know that look" Alec said low "She unconsciously showing you her dreams" "She's done it with you too?" Demetri asked low "Once or twice. What's she dreaming about?" Alec asked "Me...Er...I mean us three...our shopping trip, our hunting trip. Ice-skating, we're ice-skating?" Demetri replied, Alec laughed low "Bless her. She loves to ice-skate. I bet you $10 she asks us to go ice-skating before you go home" "Deal" Demetri agreed and continued to watch the images that Ness projected into his head whilst she slept 'Fascinating little thing' He thought to himself.
