Alice walks through the forest quickly, trying to get home before it gets too dark. There are no lights on the path she chose, so if it does get dark before she gets home, that would not be good. She gets about halfway home when she notices a small, white blur going through the trees. Whatever it is, looks to be following her. Instead of thinking about it too much, Alice walks faster. There is no way she's going to stop to see what it is.
Alice reaches the end of the path when the whitest bunny she has ever seen darts right in front of her, "Hello there." Alice says to the bunny, "You're very cute, but I have to get home soon, so if you don't mind moving out of my-" Alice stops talking as she notices that the rabbit has a shiny white ribbon tied around its left wrist, "That's strange. Are you someone's pet or something?" Alic kneels to get a better look, and the rabbit stands on its hind paws. It appears to sniff the air in front of Alice as Alice stares back at it.
"Okay, well-" Before Alice can finish, the rabbit runs behind a tree, "That was weird." Alice gets up and dusts off her knees; she's about to walk away when she notices moving out of the corner of her eye. Alice turns to the tree that the bunny disappeared behind a girl around her age, walks out. Alice jumps, holding her hand to her heart, "Sorry, you seriously scared me." She says, laughing. The girl doesn't react, so Alice goes quiet and starts playing with her hands.
The girl has porcelain skin, and long black hair falls down her back neatly. Her eyes, monolid and dark, stared at Alice blankly. The girl is wearing a short, white, silk dress with a slit and lace at the bottom. Alice looks down at her shoes to see her wearing white flats the same color. But what catches Alice's eye wasn't the beautiful dress or the ribbon holding the girl's hair back. It was the matching ribbon tied around the girl's left wrist, in the same place as the rabbit that had disappeared around the same tree.
The girl noticed where Alice was staring and backed up a step. Alice looked back up to her face, "Was that your rabbit or something? I don't know where it went." The girl backs up another step, "What rabbit?" She asks, her voice shaking.
"Um, are you okay? You look scared? Did something happen? It's getting pretty dark you should probably get back home." The girl did not respond to any of the questions, but her eyes never left Alice's face. They both stand there in awkward silence before the girl speaks again, "Your coloring...it is blue."
Alice stares at the girl, millions of questions running through her mind. What is this girl even saying? Why does she have the same ribbon as the rabbit? Why is she so weird?
"What do you mean 'my coloring'? I don't understand." The girl's eyes began to take in every inch of Alice, making Alice uncomfortable. The girl looks back at Alice's face smiling, "Yes! Your coloring is blue!" The girl rushes to Alice excitedly and grabs her hands, "Your coloring is blue!"
Alice pulls her hands out of the girl's hands, "I don't understand what you're saying to me. I need to get back home, it's getting dark." Alice is about to turn around when something strange happens. The girl starts shrinking, her limbs getting smaller and furrier? Before she knows it, the girl is a small, white rabbit with a white ribbon tied around its left wrist.
Alice gasps and backs up, "You were the rabbit?" The former girl, now rabbit, cocks her head, "Of course it was me. I am Moxidinian." Alice backs up even more. What the hell was going on? She cannot deal with this right now; she has other things to deal with: like paying bills and having an unrequited love, "What is a Moxidinian and WHY is the rabbit talking???" The rabbit frowns, "I am not a rabbit. I'm a Moxidinian." Alice backs up even more, "Yes I got that, thank you. I just don't know what a Moxidinian is."
The rabbit-girl hops closer to Alice, "Please just consider coming with me. Please. We may need your help." Alice looks at the sky, noticing that it would be pitch black soon. Does she want to follow a girl who can turn into a rabbit in the dark? What if it's a trick?
Before Alice can respond, she hears loud rustling in the trees behind her. The rabbit girl's ears droop immediately, and she starts pounding her paw on the ground, "Oh no-no-no. I should not have come here. Oh my goodness, I should not have come here. I should have known they would follow me. I am so stupid." The rabbit girl looks up at Alice, "Please run to your home and lock all your windows and doors. They're after me, not you. They do not know that you are Amarian because they cannot see your coloring."
Alice's skin starts to crawl as the rustling sounds get louder and louder, "What are you talking about; how am I Amarian? And what coloring? I'm so confused." The fear was so prominent in the rabbit girl's eyes that Alice can't help but feel it too.
"Just run! Please!" The rabbit-girl shouts over the loud growling and takes off. "Wait!" Alice chases after the rabbit girl, branches hitting and scratching her face. Alice keeps shouting after the rabbit girl to slow down, but she ignores her.
The rabbit-girl stops at a large tree with many roots at the bottom of it; she places her paws on the roots, causing them to glow where her paws are. The roots slowly unravel to make a large hole, and the rabbit jumps inside. Alice finally catches up to the rabbit girl right when she jumps in, "Damn it!" Alice is about to turn around and go back home when she notices how loud the growling has gotten. It's so loud that it's hurting her ears.
Looking from the direction of the growling to the slowly closing hole in the tree roots, Alice decides that the hole is her best bet. She jumps in right before it would close too small to fit her body. Alice looks up as the hole closes above her, and the growling goes silent. She looks around: the hole isn't very deep: it is just a little bit taller than Alice. The hole is lit up by one tiny glowing flower at the start, so she can't see much past her own hand. It's like a tunnel underground held up by tree roots. Alice walks about 5 steps into the hole before the ground disappears from under her, she begins to fall.
