It had been at least two weeks, and Stella was still ignoring her mom, James, Tom, Luke--even Lila. She didn't want to be mean to Lila, but she just really didn't want to talk to anyone. Well, except for Emily, Jamie, and Riley. She and Riley actually went out on a couple of dates, and she just wanted him to ask her out already! She didn't mean to be so eager, but she couldn't help it; he was just so cute and nice and adorable and she was just so...happy whenever she would spend time with him.
She was currently at Emily's with Jamie, helping her decide what dress she would wear for Prom. They always have prom in February, and it was already late January, so they had to be fast about it.
"How about this one?" Emily stepped out of her closet/dressing room, clad in a black dress, with the top cut low ((1D reference bc I love themmm)). It stopped mid-thigh, and she wore it with her torn-up combat boots.
"I like it!" Stella beamed, clapping her hands.
Jamie looked at Emily briefly, before walking into her closet. Emily and Jamie hit it off when Jamie was sober, and Stella was glad; now she had two besties. And the fact that they liked each other was a bonus!
Jamie walked out with a light blue dress, pushing it lightly into Emily's chest. "Here. Blue suits you. Your blonde hair, light skin, and blue eyes make the dress look good on you. Because you're tall, a long dress would totally flatter your body."
"Sure." Emily agreed, taking the dress before going to put it on.
She came out ten minutes later, having had trouble with the zipper, and twirled around in the dress, her arms flailing.
"Beautiful!" Jamie complimented, Stella nodding.
Emily clapped, snorting. "Perfect. What're you guys gonna wear?"
Jamie pulled out her phone, showing Emily a picture of her in a long, red dress.
Emily then looked at Stella expectantly. "And you?"
"Oh, I'm not going." Stella said nonchalantly.
They both looked at her incredulously. "What?! You have to go!"
"I don't really feel up to it. Plus, I don't ha e a dress, and Riley hasn't asked me." She shrugged.
"Who gives a fuck about Riley?!" Emily asked.
"I do." Stella answered.
"Stell, please? It's going to be so much fun! Me and Jamie don't have dates." Emily said.
"About that..." Jamie laughed nevously, "Calum asked me to prom!"
Emily glared at her. "Whoopty-fucking-doo, J."
"Sorry..."
"Well, I don't have a date." She said reassuringly.
Stella shrugged. "I don't know, guys."
"C'mon, please?" Jamie asked hopefully.
"I mean....the dress..." she said, her voice ful of uncertainty.
"We can shop right now!" Emily said, as if was the most obvious thing in the world.
"I don't have money, and I doubt my mom will give me any for a fucking dress."
"I'll buy it!" Emily offered.
"No. You've done enough for me."
"Stella, shut the fuck up. I make plenty of money, so it's not like it matters."
"No!" Stella shook her head, "it's too much."
"Well, how about you pay me back whenever you want?"
"Emm....I don't want you thinking that I only want to be your friend because you have money...."
"Stell, please? You've been comforting me, you've been my friend, and you've kept me company--willingly. That's something that no one's ever done for me. Ever. Just, please let me buy you your prom dress? Please?"
Stella sighed. "Okay."
Emily grabbed her car keys off of her bed, and headed torwards the door with Jamie.
"Right now?" Stella asked, her brows furrowed.
"Yeah, I ran out of food for Petezza, so why not? Ooh, and get Petezza, I got a cat-holder, and I've been wanting to try it out!"
"A what?" Jamie asked.
"A cat holder thing!" Emily squealed, getting a pouch-looking thing and putting it on. She had Jamie strap it to her back, and then had Stella hand her Petezza. Petezza had improved tremendously--in condition. His fur was shiny and thick--all of it.
Petezza layed horizontally in the pouch, his head sticking out of a hole, where a little platform was placed so that his head wouldn't dangle. The front of it was patterned like that of a turtle's, and Stella thought it was so fucking adorable. She snapped a quick picture or two before jamming her phone back into her pocket.
.
They had gone to many dress shops before Stella finally found a dress that she liked.
It was white, with a lot of silver sequins and silver glitter and little (fake) diamonds on the top, the rest of it left plain. It was also strapless, and stopped mid-thigh.
They found a pair of white, sparkly shoes (that Stella paid for) and decided to call it a night.
"Oh, shit! Ingles." Emily murmured, shifting in her seat. She turned sharply, looking both ways before doing so.
.
They walked into Ingles, heading straight for the pet aisle.
Emily was looking through the canned cat food, reading all of the nutrition facts.
"Do you think he'll like this one?" She asks, turning to look at Stella.
Stella smiled. Emily looked like one of those weird, overprotective moms--what with her kitten in a pouch near her chest, where "no harm will come" to her "baby turtle".
Weird.
"So, do you?" She asked, snapping Stella out of her thoughts.
"Umm....yeah. Sorry, I was just thinking."
"About what?" She put the can back onto the shelf, her face full of concern.
"About how you look like a weird mom."
"Well, I just care about Petezza a lot, because obviously, his previous owners--if he even had any--didn't take care of him too well."
"I know, I know, but it's cute, watching you care for lil' Petezza."
"Well, I do try." Emily replied, flaring her nostrils with her hands on her hips.
She looked at a can of cat food, picked it up, and grabbed at least ten more before putting in the shopping cart.
They stopped by the cookie & candy aisle, throwing in seven big cartons of 'Golfish', three packs of 'Chips Ahoy', seventeen bags of 'Kit Kat' minis, 23 packs of gummy worms(because Emily was madly in love with gummy worms), seventeen big bags of 'Starburst', three bags of 'Doritos' (party size), four cans of Pringles, and Pepsi.
"Let's throw a party."
