Chapter 1
The city of Pinepeace.
A magnificently elegant island surrounded with sun bleached sands and smooth silky waves. The holographic rails that guide the transport pods clash with the sunlight in a glistening golden wisp, forming spaghetti around towering buildings letting the natural light of the city reflect the entire spectrum.
One of the buildings scars the landscape through its centre, the Shard. Standing tall like needle piercing the skies. A meeting point for all council members to gather and govern the island.
On top of the Shard houses an emitter with a pulsating translucent tint that surrounds the island. A technology saturated island like Pinepeace requires protecting from the outside world. Only a handful know why the aura protects the city but since the emitter had been installed, attacks from neighbouring islands and wildlife is non existent. The only price to pay for the protection of the entire island is a humming song in the air, just loud enough for you to know its still there.
The College is the next building that comes into play, two vertical curves made out of glass pointing inwards, getting thinner as they shoot up to the sky, connecting in between with glass bridges. Inside the second curve, are classrooms 5L to 9Z.
In classroom 7B, slouches a teenage boy. A boy in his late teens but small in stature, the boy has blonde combed hair, thick upon his head. Sunset freckles speckle his cream face. Muddy topaz cradles itself in the whites of his eyes. Upon him lay a cloud-white soft shirt, stitched together with silver thread. On his shoulders are two black loops each carrying an emblem of the letter “R” in gold. Industrial black trousers drape over his legs, finished off with a pair of black trainers.
The boy stares ahead toward the front of the class where a short, chubby boy strokes the stem of an old withered Viola in a terracotta pot. As his fingers run across the flower the stem swells as it regains its plump look, the effect slows just as it reaches the petals and stops, leaving the flower to die back out. The chubby boy had brought half of the plant back to life with the touch of a finger.
“Good job Bradley, take a seat.” The female teacher praises, curling her dark hair back past her ears with the tips of her fingers.
Bradley smiles walking back to his desk, three spots behind Raja. The instructor looks behind him to a digital blue clock on the wall.
“Who wants to go next? We have time for one more.” The room fell silent as students hid behind the ones in front.
“Anyone? Anyone at all?” The instructor pleads.
Raja smiles to himself as the instructor turns her gaze to the other side of the room. Turning back to stare at Raja with daggered eyes.
“Raja. I haven’t heard anything from you in a while, come up here and show us all something you can do.”
