I'm new to this. I'm 23, just starting my life. Pathetic huh? Yeah I haven't had the easiest life, at all. But I'm glad to say I have a job and I start tomorrow. I live by myself in an apartment in New York, with my cat, Juicy. I know I know, typical loner.
It's midnight right now and I can't sleep so I decided to write. I mean, better start because that's what I'm going to be doing for the next 30 years. I got a job as a writer for a newspaper in Times Square, exciting!
I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm, which I didn't mind because I'm starting a life today. I didn't know what to wear so I put on a black pencil skirt, a blouse, a blazer, and some nude heels. Seemed professional to me.
I rode the subway, for the first time. And trust me on this, it isn't a good first experience. Oh well, all of the thoughts brushed passed me, all I was focused on, was getting there.
"Hi," I said quiet shyly to this tall man with dark hair and an unbelievable jawline, "I'm a new writer here. Could you show me to the boss' office?" "Right this way," he replied. His voice was raspy and warmed me for some reason. I stared at him until I saw he acknowledged me. "Take a picture it will last longer," he said. Oh great, I've got a cocky son of a bitch on my hands.
"Hey, I'm Jennifer, but people call me Jen," I said laughing, but soon stopped after the person in front of me had a blank face. "Anyways, I'm a new writer here. Would you mind showing me to my office.. Mr. Hanson?" I asked reading his name off of the plaque sitting on his desk. "Hello, Jennifer. I'm your boss, don't call me Mr. Hanson. I'm Hank," he said and I chuckled because the name "Hank" was the most expected boss name.
He showed me to my office and I got settled in. "I need your first article on my desk by Friday. Oh! And would you be a doll and get some forms I printed out in the copying room?" He swiftly left, and I did what I was told.
"Oh, sorry," I said quickly closing the door. I was disgusted by what I just saw, it seemed like high school again. I was interrupted by my thoughts when a woman fixing her blouse came out of the room, and allowed me to enter. "Wasn't expecting that," I said to the same figure I spoke to earlier. "I'm Jack, by the way," he gave me a smirk and for some reason I was woo'd. "Um, I'm Jen," I said still picturing what I saw earlier. His ass. "I would say sorry you had to see that, but I'm not," he said winking at me before exiting.
first chapter, hope you enjoyed it! sorry it's so short..
