The wind combed through her hair as she thrust her broom into the sky. This was the moment in tryouts where she either became the newest Ravenclaw seeker or failed miserably. Olive's petite hands gripped the broom while her eyes fixated on the empty sky hoping to find the small glimmer the snitch gave off. There she patiently waited. Bludgers flew around her a few times as beaters new and old players to keep or gain their spot. Chasers of the blue team swarmed the field, throwing the quaffle at either keeper. Then. There it was. The light Olive had waited for. Her eyes quickly shot over to Cho Chang, who must've missed what the blonde had seen, before tilting her broom upward and shooting into the sky. The snitch flew around, going between the stands and even underneath the pitch with Olive following closely behind. Cho was now following the blonde, inching closer and closer until they were across from one another.
"All right Olive all or nothing." She sighed, speaking to herself in the broken Dutch she knew.
Olive pushed her broom slightly in front of Cho's before placing her feet onto the broom and balancing herself on top. The broom sped up and shook slightly, yet the blonde didn't budge. She inched closer to the snitch. Feet nearing the edge of the broom now. Her arm extended fully as she shoved herself forward.
"It's Baker! Baker's caught the snitch!"
A bright smile crept onto her lips as she threw up the snitch in her left hand. The team she played with erupted in cheers, jumping off their brooms and running towards the second year.
"Looks like we've found out new seeker." Davies smiled, following his fellow teammates to congratulate the blonde.
A new feeling took over. A feeling of excitement. Of accomplishment. As cheers died down, Davies began calling out other people who had made the team. Cho Chang not being one of them.
"Good game aye Cho?" The blonde breathed, running up to the girl.
"Yeah. Congrats Oliver." She bluntly smiled.
Her voice was very strained, her face burned red and her smile was anything but sincere. Olive went to press the girl more but was stopped.
"Hey, Viv!" Fred yelped.
"How were tryouts!"
"They were good George." She smiled.
"So,"
"how'd it go?"
The two boys pressed for answers. A smirk crept onto her cheeks.
"You're looking at Ravenclaw's newest seeker!" She squealed.
The boys cheered loudly, picking her up onto their shoulders and bouncing her around while singing a little song.
"Well done Viv!"
"We knew you could do it!"
"Thanks, guys."
"Yeah, now we know Gryffindor will win!"
"Fred! Bloody hell." She frowned.
"Yeah, Fred. We all know no seeker beats Harry Potter."
"George!"
The twins laughed at her now red stricken face. Olive played the saddened role for minutes until she couldn't hide her laughter anymore. She was watching the two bicker about something pointless.
"Boys. It's lovely hearing the two of you bicker but I've got to go. Best friend meeting."
George nodded, understanding, while Fred pouted. Although Fred wasn't happy, she bid the twins goodbye before running into the school and up to the library. Her small feet tapped the floors, filling the quiet corridors. She quickened her pace as she was brought closer to the library. With a large shove, the doors swung open. Olive peered over the large shelves. There they were. The two Hufflepuffs and Slytherin sat quietly amongst themselves. Gemma and Cedric whispered something between themselves. Draco sat across from them, his nose nuzzled in a book as he stayed silent.
"Guys."
Her whisper made the three teens look up. Smiles lit up their faces as she neared them. Draco was the first to stand up, quickening his pace to meet her. With his arms were outstretched, he met her grasp. Olive melted into the tall boy as his arms protected her back.
"How were tryouts?" He whispered onto her forehead.
"I'm Ravenclaw's seeker now." She piped up, moving her head up to meet his eyes.
His cold eyes brightened, excitement filling the void. He threw her into the air, spinning her around while cheered loudly, catching the attention of the two Hufflepuffs.
"I'm a seeker!" She cheered to the duo.
"Liv no bloody way!" Gemma screeched, jumping out of her seat.
"Brilliant Ollie," Cedric exclaimed, following suit.
The four friends celebrated in the quiet library, dancing between the shelves and singing to random songs the four had heard over the years. Gemma led her three friends out of the library and into the halls. Olive belted to the words of random songs.
"Stop! Stop Ollie. Your voice is bloody horrid."
"Shove off Malfoy my singing is brilliant!" Olive pouted.
"Ollie he's not wrong." Cedric stifled his laughs, "You sound like I just tried to murder Gem's cat."
Gemma squealed, her laughter filling the air as the trio mocked their blonde best friend. Olive attempted to pout, but a smile crept onto her face as Draco moved closer, poking at her cheeks.
"That's it you three are dead!"
She lunged towards the Slytherin in front of her, causing him and their two friends to run away from the Ravenclaw. Their giggles filled the corridors of the magical school. Happiness wasn't strong enough to express the feeling Olive felt whilst chasing after her best friends. It was pure joy. She was led down to the kitchens by the trio who slowed their stride. Gemma was gasping for air, clutching her knees as sweat dripped from her forehead.
"Bloody hell I forget how unathletic I am compared to you three." She breathed, slowly looking up towards Olive.
"Need to try out for Quidditch Gem." Cedric remarked.
"Nice try Ced. Our girl would never step foot on the pitch if it were the last thing she'd do."
Gemma frowned, slapping her friend who spoke. Olive chuckled at the girl, holding her hands up in defeat.
"Not to ruin the moment, but it's after-hours ladies."
"Dray you're such a rule follower." Olive groaned, making her way to the blonde and pouting.
"Draco's right. We need to get to the commons."
"Ced not you too."
Olive tore her gaze from Draco and landed on Cedric, the pout still prominent on her lips. After what felt like hours of debating, Gemma and Cedric had left for the Hufflepuff commons, leaving Draco and Olive in the kitchens.
"So how do they expect me to get up to Ravenclaw towers without landing detention in the process?"
Draco smiled, leaning closer to the girl, "Second painting up there. It opens. Take it to the exit and you'll land back at the library entrance. It's not the tower but it's closer than here."
"Dray you're the best."
"Oh I know Ollie."
Olive rolled her eyes, shoving away the blonde boy before pulling him back in for a hug. The duo stayed silent as they swayed around in the embrace. They bid one another goodbyes after the moment of silence and the Slytherin slipped out of the kitchens, leaving Olive alone.
