If you were Icarus, would you have done the same as he?

He flew into the sun just for a glimpse of freedom. Freedom he never got.

The sun rejected him and he crashed to the sea. His wings were torn to shreds and the wax holding them together burned him beyond recognition. His death showed humanity, once again, that they are not to go past the bonds that hold them to the earth.

What was the point?

Icarus saw that the bonds of the earth were a hindrance to those who do not want to be sheep. Led through their daily lives like cattle. Icarus wanted to break the bonds of mankind. This sounds amazing. But this is not a story where the hero succeeds.

He failed.

He fell.

He burned.

That's the story. The story of a boy who wanted freedom from the constraints of mankind. Freedom to rule the sky. Freedom to go anywhere his heart desired. But he did not succeed.

What was the point?

He accomplished nothing in his short life. He reminded humanity that it could not succeed in doing the impossible.

He failed.

Was it really that bad? Icarus had few to help him.

What if there were more?

More people with more ideas with more creativity with more ability. With just as much ambition, maybe more, than he.

Would he have succeeded?

Would they have made the journey?

Would they have conquered the sun?

Perhaps they would have succeeded. Perhaps they would have failed. You can't know for sure.

Why not try?

Why not come together to strive for greatness?

Why not learn to rule the skies with wings of gold?

A single man failed in his attempt to tame the sun.

What if he had help?

What if he wasn't alone.

Of course this is all just a silly notion. A bunch of words written down for people to skim through and look away. Go to work. Go to school. Continue on with you responsibilities. Go carry on with you plain, average, boring, old life. There is about as much meaning in these words as there is people soaring through the skies with golden wings. There is not way to make this possible, so go on, give up. Nothing here is for you. So just go away. Its all a silly fantasy game. It all gets old. All of it is an imaginary story that is in you head.

Or is it?
