Again?

"Hey I have to go, I'll see you tomorrow," Amie said, a few hours after the truth or dare game.

"Bye, Amie," the boys and I said together.

"I should probably" ―I yawned in the middle of my sentence― "go home too."

"Alright, come back if you need anything," Elijah said.

"Later," Ethan said with a salute before falling on the couch.

I laughed and closed the door behind me. I ran across the street to my house pausing as soon as I heard yelling inside.

Here we go again, maybe it would be better to stay with the boys, I thought. I turned tail and ran across the street again. I'm lucky those two are super close by. I knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds before Elijah answered.

"Again?" he asked.

"Yep," I sighed loudly.

"Okay, well come in," he said, stepping out of the way. "I'll go get you a blanket."

I didn't realize until he left that he had no shirt on. How can someone who eats so much be so skinny, I thought curiously.

"Yo, Alex, I got the blankets," he whisper-yelled.

"Thanks, goodnight, Twig Boi," I said quietly.

"G'night Fireball, and quit calling me that," he laughed.

The next morning I woke up to the smell of eggs and bacon. I groaned as I slowly got up from the couch and made my way to the kitchen.

"G'morning, Mrs. Best," I said tiredly.

"Good morning," she replied. "Alexandra, do you mind waking up the boys for me?"

I simply nodded and went to the guys' rooms. I stepped into Ethan's and poked his face.

"Wake up, child," I said, poking him again.

"Mom, I'm tired, give five more minutes...please," he groaned.

I looked around for something to wake him up when Patches walked in. Perfect, I thought, grinning slightly.

"Come here, Patches, come help me wake up Ethan," I whispered.

I picked up the dog and placed him on Ethan's head. Patches jumped up and started licking Ethan's face.

"What the heck, leave me alone," Ethan whined, but who listens?

"Get up, Wheat thin, we have school today," I told him(don't judge my nickname choices).

"Alex? Why are you here so early?" He asked as he sat up.

"Parents," I answered, looking down at my feet. My parents have been fighting for as long as I can remember, that's why I'm always at the Best's house, the only time I ever stay home is if I have a friend over, my parents are out, or to feed Misha― my dog. My parents for some reason have never really liked the boys; especially Elijah(probably because the first time we met the Best's his parents didn't let him come because he was grounded for about 3 weeks).

"Welp, I oughta go wake up your brother," I said. I walked into Elijah's room and jumped on his bed.

"Holy crap!" he yelled, immediately falling out of bed.

"Good morning, Twig Boi!" I laughed. He groaned before getting back in bed and wrapping an arm around me.

"You are my prisoner, now," he joked.

"Lijah we have school, you need to get up," I said while trying to get out of his grip.

"I don't wanna," he whined.

"Yeah, but we have to," I said, mimicking his voice.

Elijah finally let go of me and started to get ready.

"Twig Boi!" I yelled, poking his sides before I ran. I came back a minute later, and when I did I found him with his arms crossed.

"Could I borrow some clothes?" I asked with a small voice. He tossed me a shirt, sweatpants, and a hoodie. Borrowing their clothes has been a thing I've done for a very long time―I mean, I do spend most of my time in their house.
