I sit in a chair outside the officer's tent and take a deep breath of the fresh air, Shadis is in charge of the cadets for the next couple of days so I can finally get some rest. I take a sip out of my tea and enjoy the moments peace but before I can even finish taking my drink, I hear the sound of multiple incoming horses. I look towards the source of the noise and see three figures on horses riding towards the camp. I set down my drink and head down to meet the riders at the gate. When I reach the gate, I am met by the three riders who wore hoods, "Who are you and what do you want?" I call out to them as they approach. I study them and see that they are wearing soldiers' uniforms with soldiers' green capes and hoods on them. "Relax Y/n, it's just us" a familiar deep voice calls out, the three strangers remove their hoods and reveal their identities. "Commander Erwin!" I gasp and salute him, "No need for that my friend" the leader of my regiment waves me off. Commander Erwin Smith is the leader of the Scout Regiment and in my and many others opinions, the greatest chance humanity has of surviving and retaking the walls. He's not only the smartest man I've ever met but also easily the bravest.

"Y/n! It's so good to see you!" a female voice yells and I am suddenly knocked to the ground. The one who knocked me over then starts to hug me tightly, squeezing the air out of my body with ease. "H... Hange.... can't breathe" I wheeze as one of my closest friends hugs the life out of me. "Huh? Oh, sorry about that, I just missed you a lot. You should know to write to me more often, I hate it when you don't keep me updated on how you are" she huffs and releases me. Hange Zoe, a section commander of the scouts and probably my best friend in the scouts outside my own squad. Even though she is technically my subordinate, I always end up doing what she asks or doing favors for her because I care for her and like seeing her happy, even though she's obsessed with Titans.

"Hey four-eyes, how about you stop meddling with other people's lives and worry about your own for once?" a low and cold voice says from behind us. Hange helps me up and I see that the third and final visitor to the camp is Captain Levi. Levi is humanity's greatest soldier, with easily a hundred titan kills to support his title. When I first joined the scouts, I was placed in his squad to learn under him and after a year of fighting under him, I was given my current rank and given the title of his successor. Despite the fact that I served under him for a year, Levi has never liked me that much but Hange always says that he likes me, he just can't be bothered to show it but I'm skeptical.
