"6, 5, 4..." He counted the doors as he walked down the hallway.
He flinched as he felt something sharp sink into his skin, the area turning red. A small scorpion scattered away quickly to the darkness. He hadn't even noticed it had been sitting on one of his boxes. He groaned at the pain and hoped it wasn't poisonous.
Soobin grunted as he put down the heavy box on the floor. His back was aching from all the things he had to carry and now his arm was as well, he was glad this was his last box.
where are the darn keys...
He mumbled amongst himself. He searched around his pockets trying to find them. Finally, the keys jingled in the quiet hall, a relieved sigh escaped his mouth.
"Need some help?" A voice interrupted him. He looked around to find a boy staring at him with curious eyes. The boy had wavy brown hair and was wearing a brightly colored hoodie.
"what?" Soobin said, confused.
"The boxes." The boy pointed his finger at them. "Do you need help putting them inside?"
The boy asked again with a small smile.
"Oh yes, thank you!" Soobin replied. The boy nodded, picking up a box.
Soobin unlocked the door, revealing his new living space. It was clean and very much empty, he could definitely make it fit his style.
Soobin took some time to look around the foreign space, not paying much attention to the other boy.
He wasn't necessarily amazed, he had lived in much better conditions but the thought of something finally being only his made him feel elated. He had control over his decisions now.
"Where did you come from?" The boy asked.
"Korea." Soobin stated.
He drags his finger across one of the walls. The paint was chipping away, he wondered how many had stayed here before him.
"Cool. I'm half Korean...but I don't remember any Korean..." The boy explained with a small awkward giggle.
He looks like a nice person, Soobin thought. He had a quirky smile and a strange way to walk. Attractive and tall but not as attractive and tall as him.
"Well, I have to go now." The boy said waving goodbye.
"Thanks for helping me!" Soobin said before the boy walked out.
He didn't care about introducing himself; he'd probably forget who the boy was in a few hours anyway.
Soobin sighed, his work wasn't done yet. He sat on the floor planning out how he wanted to organize everything.
Soobin received a scholarship to study abroad, this was the perfect opportunity to get away from his past. He had spent the last few months studying English nonstop which paid off because now he was practically fluent. He still got a bit confused with English slang but he'd get the hang of it soon enough.
He was good at everything.
A few days later was the first day at his new college, new students, new teachers, all in a foreign place. You'd think Soobin would be nervous but it was actually quite the opposite. He had a lot of confidence, sometimes a bit too much.
Some would say he was a bit of a narcissistic arrogant, they just didn't know him well enough.
He walked the halls with his head high and chest out. His height making him stand out even more.
Quickly he became the talk of the students. There were many foreigners that had come but he was the only one who became popular.
All thanks to his good looks and charming words, he ended up making everyone fall for him.
