The voices had gotten louder recently. They were so loud he could feel how it made the floor and walls shake, although part of it was just his imagination.

Sometimes it sounded like a baby's cry, other times it sounded like a siren calling to him. The fantasy book on his bedside table could explain why he was paranoid, but he refused to believe it was his head playing games. He thought he was going insane.

No one else heard this voice apart from him, every time he brought the subject up to someone, they would laugh at him...Something was strange about it.

Could it be a ghost? No, he didn't believe in those..right?

He chose to ignore it until now.

Tonight he would finally have the guts to go out of his room. He didn't really know what to expect, he brought a small knife with him anyway. Soobin didn't plan on using it, not at all. It was just an .. instinct.

He took a few breaths, preparing himself. He took his time turning the doorknob, peeking his head into the hallway. The hallway looked like it stretched out the more he looked at it, a bright light hung from the ceiling.

Not a single person was awake, weirdly, it was quiet.

Soobin crept out, shutting his door softly, avoiding any noise that could make his presence known. To the right was a window that was slightly open letting a small breeze come through. He didn't know why he felt so afraid.

The silence and the loneliness reminded him of his childhood. How he would spend his night alone waiting for his father to come home.

Soft hums echoed through the hall. There it was, that was the voice. He tiptoed down the hall, the voice getting clearer with every step. All of a sudden he felt nervous, what was to await?

It sounded like an angel's voice, maybe this was all a dream. Maybe he was dying and was being delirious.

He turned the corner, expecting to see someone or something.

He was met with empty stairs.

A sigh of relief escaped his lips, as he scanned around. Should he go lower? The voice was so clear now, so near.

He took careful steps. Making noise was inevitable with these metal stairs but he tried nonetheless. The voice quickly came to a stop.

As he reached the final steps, he was met with a boy with messy blonde hair. The boy quickly whipped his head back, meeting a terrified Soobin. Like a deer caught in headlights, his eyes went wide.

"It's rude to stare." The boy said. Soobin could swear he had seen him somewhere. The confidence and the features were so distinguishable, that it triggered something inside him.

"Cat got your tongue?" Huening Kai mocked. It was the boy who had helped him the first day.

He looked different now, something was different now. He had obviously bleached his hair, but there was something else. Perhaps a darker shade to the circles under his eyes or the hollowness of his cheeks.

"Huening Kai?" Soobin questioned.

"So you can talk." Kai giggled. His expression quickly turned serious. "Are you okay? You look a little pale."

It was like his demeanor had changed in a split second. His playful personality now turned into a soft one.

"I'm fine," Soobin replied. He stayed quiet for a few seconds, finally remembering what he was here for. "Were... you the one singing?" He asked.

Kai giggled once again. "Sorry if I disturbed your sleep."

"No no." Soobin denied quickly, even though his sleep had been disturbed many times. "I just wanted to know who it was."
