Chapter 7: Arrogant Lion

He rolled over and opened his eyes. Calandra was not in the bedroom, he sighed and went to the bathroom. He put water on his face to help him wake up more and brushed his teeth. He put on a long sleeve shirt and pants. He leaves the bathroom and heads downstairs. He finds Calandra in the dining room with a glass of water, sipping at it staring off to the ocean, he smiles and sits across from her.

"You love blocking my view, huh?" Calandra said smiling.

"You rather look at the ocean than me?" he asked.

"I rather be looking at anything that pleases my eyes."

"Hmm... So what can you see? Does everything look black and white?"

"I have a thing called protanopia, I can't really tell the difference between red and greens. So you probably see me paint forests with browns and yellow leaves instead of green. I never use red or green in my artworks."

"Wow, that's incredible. At least you can still see, I thought you couldn't see at all." he laughed.

"Yeah, I don't blame you for thinking that. Thank the heavens above I didn't get total color blindness or went completely blind. Sadly each year that goes by it has gotten worse, the others probably haven't told you this, but we all have a physical curse. I used to be able to see as a child, now my eyesight gets worse and worse because I am an artist. The things we do for fun, come with a price."

"You telling me everyone here has a physical curse?" She nodded her head yes. "What is it? Please tell me."

"We do have an hour before Laria shows up, I guess it won't hurt. In return for this information you don't ask me any questions about my past."

"I promise." he said, holding out his pinky. She smiled and did a pinky promise. "Also Laria is picking me up? Ugh... I do not want to spend a night with her."

"Oh yes, it is going in order of our star constellations. After Laria you'll see Varavara, Lila, Sandy, Salus, Calantha, Acacia, and lastly Pacifica."

He thought to himself 'wow there are so many more people I have to meet, how can I choose?'

"May I begin?" Calandra asked.

"Oh yes, you may." he answered.

"Althaia curse is heart attacks and strokes. If she plays sports too much, she will burn out and eventually die from a heart attack. Talia will one day turn into a flower, she will become what she loves the most. She already has green ears she tries to hide with her hair and green finger tips. Gabriella is going deaf, she doesn't talk about it, but that's the reason she blasts music. You probably know she loves metal and rock. Laria is that she will turn into a golden statue. Her golden hair and her face is already gold, she uses a lot of makeup. It reached to her neck, for now. Her love for gold and riches will turn her into one. Varvara slowly is turning into an animal, we don't know which one yet but she has a tail and her ears turned into one. She sometimes makes animal noises." she took a pause to take a sip of water, then continued.

" Lali is turning into air, she loves harmony and everyone knows that doesn't exist forever so she is disappearing. She sometimes goes invisible or you can't see a body part of her. Sandy is turning into a zombie, she also uses makeup to cover her dead skin. Her skin just falls off, I think she is missing a toe, that's why she always wears sneakers. Salus is turning into lightning, she gives off electricity and one day will explode with electricity, becoming lightning. Calantha is developing a brain tumor, since she loves learning and knowledge. She sometimes can't comprehend things or go off on rants. Very bad memory. Acacia is turning into a book, she can feel like paper. Lastly, Pacifica, she is turning into a fish. She always swims and has gills, but hides it. Her hands are slowly turning into flippers."
