The wind blew in her face, and lovely red and yellow leaves fell around her as she stared out over the beautiful Lake Michigan before her.
Sophie sat on a park bench, breathing in the clear fresh air and soaking in the silence.
No one was near, so her mind was clear of penetrating thoughts.

"If only I always felt like this."
She muttered into the wind, closing her eyes.
"Beautiful out here, isn't it?"
Sophie nearly screamed and fell off the bench.
The bloated form of Mr. Forkle stood beside her.
"Sorry. Mind if I join you?"
Sophie didn't answer so he sat down.
Sophie tried not to wince as her mind filled with his thoughts.
The lake is so big.
I hope I remembered to lock the door when I left.
Oh! Was that a fish?
And other normal-sounding thoughts.
"How's your head feeling?"
He asked after a bit, knowing how easily she got headaches.
"Fine until you got here." she muttered incoherently. Then louder- "Same I guess."

"How's your parents doing?"
He asked after a few minutes.
Sophie almost retorted, they're not my parents, but caught herself.
The Fosters has adopted her when she was an infant. According to them, her birth mom hadn't been an able caretaker and they didn't know who her father was.
So the Fosters were the only family she had ever known, but that was okay.
She loved them.
Loved them very much.
They were good parents.

"They're actually on Vacation right now. It's there anniversary tomorrow."
Sophie informed him.
"Oh right." He said thoughtfully.
"Well, I better be going." Sophie said, quickly grabbing her crutches.
Mr Forkle quickly stood and helped her to her feet.

"Thanks." she said slightly blushing.
She then staggered over towards the street.
"Wait! How are you getting home?"
Mr. Forkle inquired, panting as he hurried to catch up with her.
Sophie blushed again.
"I'll take a cab or the bus or something"
She muttered just loud enough to hear.
"Oh you kids." he muttered. "No need. Me being your friendly neighbor here, I can give u a lift."

That would be better I guess. Less of a headache and cheaper.
"Are you sure you don't mind?" she asked as she followed him over to his car.
"Yes, it's fine."
He assured her, opening the passenger door so she could get in.
She climbed in awkwardly with her cast, then breathing a little hard, she looked up at him and smiled.

************************************

Hello.
Sophie jumped and looked around her classroom. Everyone was focused on their assignments, so she just shook her head and looked back down.
Meet me in the gym during lunch, Sophie.
Sophie once again jumped and looked around and once again everyone was still focused on their assignments.
How weird. She thought, silently shaking her head to clear it.

Though when lunchtime came, she quietly made her way gym just to check it out, but she found it empty when she arrived.
Sophie scratched her head and was about to head to the cafeteria when she heard a voice from behind her with an accent she couldn't place.
"Hello Sophie."

Startled, she quickly turned around.
A tall man in his mid-twentys, was strolling across the gym towards her.
"It's been a long time, Sophie."
He said, smiling sharply.
Sophie's heart started to thump wildly in her chest.
His eyes, were a pale blue, and as their vision locked on each other, she seemed unable to look away.

We've been looking for you for so long.
Sophie's heart dropped.
His mouth hadn't moved.
Those words hadn't come from his mouth.
They were in her brain. They were his thoughts it seemed, but yet so much clearer.
"Wh-who are you?" she stuttered. "What do you mean you've been looking for me?"

He smiled his bright smile again.
"All will be explained soon, but first I want to show you something."
He stepped closer.
"Come with me. "
He whispered.
Sophie, nearly toppling over from trembling so bad, shook her head violently.
"N-no!" she stuttered, before turning and hobbling as fast as she could on her crutches.

She heard the boy behind her sigh, then say, "I guess we'll have to do this the hard way then."
Within a few strides of his long legs, he was caught up to her.
He then reached out and grabbed her around the waist.
She tried to scream, but his hand muffled it.
Then he gently lowered her to the floor and holding onto her with one hand he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small glass vial of foggy purple liquid.

"Please don't do this!" she begged, beginning to softly cry. "Please!"
The boy frowned like he was almost sad, then he smiled.
"You'll thank me someday, Sophie."
Then he popped off the cap and used his soft finger to pry open her lips and pour it in. She tried to spit it back out, tried to struggle away, but he was to strong. He then pinched closed her nose so that if she wanted to breathe, she would have to swallow the purple liquid.

Before, she was unable to hold on any longer and swallowed it.
Gasping for breath, tears streaming down her face, and her head spinning and beginning to fog with the sedative, she pleaded with him.
But within a minute she dragged under into the dark black abyss of sleep.
After he was sure she was asleep, he picked her up and put her over his shoulder.
Then he pulled a small crystal stick with different facets on top, out of his pocket. He held it up to the light, and a beam of blue laser of light streaked out.

Then he stepped into the light and faded away, girl and all.
But what he didn't see was the blonde-haired boy who was standing agape in the shadows of the bleachers.
Nor did he see the boy walk into the middle of the room and slowly pick up Sophie's deserted crutches, then walk put a side door, never to step foot in the school again.
