Yule Ball Introduction

{IN THIS STORY THE YULE BALL IS INTRODUCED BEFORE THE GOBLET OF FIRE CHAMPIONS ARE ANNOUNCED AND PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL INTRODUCES THE YULE BALL TO THE HUFFLEPUFFS ASWELL}

We got off the train and headed to the great hall for dinner I sat at the Hufflepuff table because I begged Dumbledore to let me be in Hufflepuff and not make me do the sorting hat Ceremony. I looked for Cedric but I couldn't see him until I heard "y/n? Is that you?" Cedric grinned and stood up he was much taller and more masculine with his facial features being more defined. "You bet, Ced I haven't seen you in forever you look so... different" I examined him "is that bad?" "Oh god no, I'm just surprised" "you don't look to bad yourself Smith" he grinned. We talked all night. At around 12 am Cedric and I waved goodbye as we went off to bed.

I had been thinking about how handsome Cedric had gotten, I mean same with the twins but Cedric just stood out to me. I stayed up talking with the Hufflepuff girls, "hey, y/n?" a blonde hufflepuff asked me "yes whats up?" "are you and cedric dating? Ive heard rumors but I just want to know for a friend" she answered. I wondered which friend and why they even cared about Cedric and I, "no not at all who thinks that?" I questioned "everyone! And thank god because girls will be chasing him to get asked to the ball." "the ball?" a brown haired hufflepuff asked. I was wondering the same thing, what ball? "the yule ball!" three other girls screamed in sync. Oh my god I thought, this will be a fun year.

its been a couple weeks since the girls explained the yule ball to me and apparently no one else really knows so I had to stay quiet. I was Transfiguration, I was next to Cedric talking about potions "hey Ced-" Professor Mcgonagall barged in "girls go on one side boys on the other" she said as I quickly moved to one side of the room while Cedric frowned slightly. I also noticed that the gryffindors were with us, I looked over to Fred as he winked at me. "the yule ball has been a tradition of the triwizard tournament since its inception," she paused, I looked over as Cedric froze to the words Triward he promised me he wouldnt enter so I hoped he was just nervous, I focused my attention back on our Professor "On christmas eve night we and our guests gather in the great hall for a night of well mannered actions, as representatives of the host school I expect each of you to put your best foot forward and I mean this literally because the yule ball is first and for most." she paused "a dance" she grinned slightly. I grinned at Hermione who was next to me "who are you taking Mione?" hermione and I had gotten pretty close due to her being in my divination class. "I dont know, let me guess your taking Cedric?" she asked quite loud, "what no! he probably would never even ask me! And I dont see him that way!" I shoved her, little did I know Cedric was listening in, "admit it, you guys are in love" I blushed at those words but just as I could say something Professor Mcgonagall started talking "I will not have in the course of a single evening be smatching that name by behaving like babbling bumbbling band of baboons!" I looked over to the twins as they whispered to eachother I grinned, "inside every girl a secret swan!" I rolled my eyes at that sentence. "inside every boy a lion, mr. weasley! Will you join me please," "yes" Ron groaned as he got up and started to dance with Professor Mcgonagall while music played. "now, place your right hand on my waist." "where?" Ron said clearly embarrassed "my waist" she rolled her eyes. They began to dance and the twins started to laugh and whistle.

We were in dinner and everyone was talking about the dance, "hey y/n" Cedric asked me "yeah Ced, whats up?" I said while stuffing bread in my mouth "got any date for the dance?" "nope Its fine Ced I can go alone" I knew Cedric was about to say something but he got interrupted by the twins whistling for me to come over to their table, "Sorry Ced, I need to go can you tell me later?" I said while I ran over to their table.
