mark woke up in a rush this morning, it was already 20 minutes past 8. he was going to be late to school once again if he didn't hurry up. he threw on his infamous black hoodie and the first pair of jeans he saw thrown on his chair to his desk.

he sped walk to the bathroom and quickly glanced at himself. his black locks sat messily on his head and his eyes were puffy as he may or may not have cried himself to sleep last night because of a sad tik tok he came across.

that's usually how his nights went, him binge watching tik tik videos and the next thing you know it was 3 am and he has to force himself to sleep. i guess you could say that, that was his usual night routine. after brushing his teeth and washing his face, he put on his sneakers. followed by grabbing his bag along with an apple and headed out the door.

he sighed, as his feet scraped against the pavement. he held onto one of his book bag straps and tousled his hair. he didn't have much time to make sure his hair was at least decent enough, he couldn't really do much since he was missing first period.

when he finally arrived to the building, first period was completely over and he made it just in time for second period, which was his english class. it was the worst time of day for mark. he hated ela so much he could cry. he didn't like to read and writing essays just wasn't his forte. that explains his failing grade that he wasn't necessarily proud of, but too lazy to change.

mark wasn't stupid by any means, there were some subjects that he was good at. but his problem exactly was that he could be very lazy at times and lack motivation. so when it came to english, it already didn't come easy to him so if you mix that with his laziness, that just equals a bad grade.

mark strolled into his class with a bored look on his face, he wasn't looking forward to reading another line from romeo and juliet. he felt it was the most basic shakespeare play in the world. it was extremely boring and played out at this point.

by the time class was over, mark excitedly gathered his books. he was ready to walk out of the room and go on to his favorite class, being math. he didn't like math either but that class was filled with his friends, which made the 45 minute period bearable.

"mark, may i speak to you for a minute?" mr.lee calls, making mark frown. his excitement was pretty short lived.

"yes mr.lee?"

"i think you know what this is about." his teacher says. his glasses were sitting at the bridge of his nose and he wore a stern look on his face.

"i am not really sure mr.lee."

"you're failing my class mark. i have sent out several letters home, spoke to the principal, made you stay up for lunch several times to get some studying in and even advised you to study at home but to no avail. you currently have a 45% , i assume you're proud of that grade yeah?"

"absolutely not sir."

"are you sure? i gave you plenty of warnings and extended out all of the help i could give. yet your grade still remains a failing one. are you sure you want it to change?"

"yes, i really do. is there anything that i can do to fix it? i know I blew all of my chances, but i swear i'll do anything to fix it this time."

"i don't know mark lee, you've had many chances. how do i know i can trust you with another one?" mr.lee asks, crossing his arms seeming unconvinced.

"i know but i am really serious this time, i have never said that before. but i am so serious about changing my grade this time."

"okay let's make a deal then."

"sure, what is it?"

"if you want to pass my class and graduate this year, you have to go to tutoring sessions for the remainder of the year."

"sounds good to me, who will be tutoring me sir?"

"my son, haechan lee. he's an honor student and doesn't go to this school so i don't expect you to know him. each session will be held at the library thats about 5 blocks from here, every evening at 4 to 5:30, excluding weekends. clear?"

"yes sir."

"okay now go on to your next class mark, i'll reach out to my son and the sessions should be starting tomorrow. i expect you to go through with this deal or else you'll fail, no exceptions. this is your final chance."

mark nodded and walked out of the classroom, he wasn't looking forward to these sessions with his teachers son at all....but as his teacher said, this is his final chance to earn a passing grade. he was left with no choice.
