I had to admit. That I was not expecting. Well, because I was about to do that before he beat me to it. Now, that was how an evening in The Lights should go. When I started to kiss back, he pulled away, just as quickly with a smirk on his lips. "You owed me one for that kick, darling." He traced my lower lip making me scoff. Now suddenly I seem to be owing something to random men. I saw a pattern forming.
Before I could wiggle out of his grasp a hand pulled me back making me hit a hard chest. Again, a pattern. "That is my date", Nicholas growled at the guy earning a chortle. "All yours mate. This chick happens to hate balls", he informed with a scrunched up face, as if it were to prove something. I felt a rumble of chuckle from behind me.
Yet they were still in the same position staring at each other. I was getting impatient at their staring contest, about to snap, when my date turned around pulling me with him.
That was when I remembered what we were doing earlier. I opened my mouth but he cut me off, glaring at me. "What was that?" Now it was my turn to smirk again. I leaned closer to him, standing toe to toe. I wrapped an arm around his collar pulling him in. My voice was a whisper and he stood still. "That, my darling, is how casual we will be."
His jaw ticked at my response and he clenched his jaw. 'That was more like it', I thought. Neither did I move away not did he push me. We both stood still, him returning my smirk with a glare. But he nudged me to walk as he strode forward with his arms around my waist till I was backed against a wall.
He licked his lip taking a deep breath. His eyes were closed and head down. I couldn't quite make out his expression in the poor lights of the club. Then he pressed closer, our fronts touching, chest to chest.
"You were trying to make me jealous." He stated calmly, his ink black eyes locking on mine. I just stared back at him, into those familiar pools of swirling storm. But I couldn't figure out why they were familiar. "And it's working", he gave my waist a gentle squeeze and my heart leaped.
"Why?", I breathed and he leaned closer placing a small kiss on the corner of my lips. Then his lips traced their way up to my ear. I felt a sweet shiver down my spine when he blew into my ear. "Why what?", he whispered neither moving away and nor stopping his ministration.
"What?", I stuttered not processing his words as I arched my neck. Now he has moved from my ear to my neck peppering kisses. The already warm air of the club made me feel hot and I could feel a bead of sweat trickle down my midriff.
Then he suddenly straightened his back and completely moved away from me, with a smirk on his face. That snapped me to my senses as I gripped the wall behind, heavy breath of air whooshing out of me. He watched in complete amusement, a mockery of smile playing on his lips.
I was so consumed in the moment that I failed to remember why I was there. I should have been the one playing him and not the other way around. At that rate, I was going to lose, quite pathetically. Now that can't happened. Some random guy can't force me to date him and mess me up.
I squared my shoulders and looked up to see him still smirking down at me. "How long is your bed post? As long as mine?", he threw at me while offering me a hand. I took it without hesitation as a bubble of laughter escaped my lips. "How long is long for you?", I shot back. Suddenly I didn't want him to answer that. Instead I just received a grin.
"So you were saying", he tilted his head, pulling me in as we reached to the dance floor, "something about casual?"
We were gently swaying to the hip-hop playing in the background, completely off beat, still he made it feel good. Then I realised the question hanging in the air as I looked behind him. I was never one to be tongue tied and everything was happening upside down for me with that guy. I spoke just to fill the gap. "So Blackwood, as I said, we're free to seek out partners till...", I motioned between us, "there's something real."
And then I would leave and it would serve him right for threatening my father and forcing me to date him. But I felt so inhumane, like a witch, to be entertaining such horrible thoughts. When did I become so vile? And to the man smiling sweetly at me, while holding me?
He pulled me closer and his hold on me tightened. I giggle escaped me at the gesture. "I didn't take you for a cuddler." I laughed and he gave me a stink eye pulling me closer still.
"And what if I am?" Now he was drawing closer to me and my vision blurred. Was he going to kiss me? Was he playing me? But he stopped still just before touching my lips to his as if waiting. Was it my call? Do I wanna go ahead? It should not be a big deal, it was just a kiss. I told myself although I was nervous all of a sudden and after bragging to him shamelessly about him being a notch on my bed post.
I closed the distance and when I pressed my lips to his, he pulled away, again and started to walk away. I stood there like a dumb teenager watching him walk away and my fingers tracing my stinging lips. Wow, he did play me. My eyes stung and for the first time I felt rejected.
That sassy, hot headed girl was nowhere to be seen as I turned too, to drink myself to oblivion when he called out.
"Olivia?", my name rolled off of his tongue in a way that set me on fire. He looked back at me with an intensity that had my heart thumping wildly. "You're free to seek out. But he won't be free to live. Good night, Love."
Then he left, finally. Something with me and with something of me.
