You've lived in California your whole life. You've already graduated from high school and have a bachelors degree in Psychology.
You've kept in contact with some of your high school and college friends, but it's been kind of hard because everyone's lives have changed so much.
You and Berlin were friends in high school, and were luckily enrolled in the same college as well. Both of you graduated the same year and kept in touch for a while afterwards.
After he moved to Texas, you and him haven't really contacted one another. You weren't mad at him or anything; you understood how busy he was.
There's news in town that Berlin is flying up here today and you honestly didn't know how to feel about it. He didn't text you so he probably wouldn't visit you while he was here.
You carried on your day by going to your favorite cafe and ordering lunch. Nothing really obscure has happened, other than you almost crashing into another car on your way here.
You glimpse up and see Berlin at the front ordering food. You blink a couple of times to see if your hallucinating, but your not.
What a coincidence.
He grabs his bag and walks your way, still not noticing you.
His eyes eventually land on you and a smile appears on his face.
"Y/N?" He asks happily.
Your confused on why he's so happy to see you, considering he hasn't texted you in a long ass time.
You grin, "Hey Berlin. How you been?"
He sits at your booth, "I've been great, how about yourself?"
"I've been good," You say, kind of not knowing what to say next.
There's awkward silence.
He breaks it, "I've been trying to get in touch with you for a while now."
"You have? I gave you my number years ago."
"I got a new number and lost all of my contacts. I texted you on Instagram and you never replied to me," He explains.
You furrow your brows. You never thought to check your Instagram DMs and now you feel stupid.
"I'm sorry, I never check my Instagram messages," You say. "I'll just give you my number now then."
"Alright," he pulls out his phone and hands it to you. You save your contact and hand him his phone back.
"How long you in town for?"
"Two weeks. I had to come see my mom during the holidays."
"Aww, I saw her the other day in the grocery store. She's so sweet and kind-hearted."
"Yeah, that's her. You visiting too or you still stay up here?" He begins to pull his food out of his bag and opens it.
"I still live here. I cant see myself being anywhere else," you reply.
"Yeah I understand that. That's how I was for a while."
You nod your head. As the conversation continued, you began to feel something more. You didn't know what it was, but you felt it.
You begin to get lost in Berlin's eyes. All you could hear was blurred words. You watched as he took a sip from his drink, and how he smiled as he spoke. You begin to daydream.
You eventually stop once he waves his hand in your face, "Hellooo?" He says.
You jump up a bit, "Oh, my bad," you chuckle. You gather your things and began to get up. "Make sure you call me, alright?"
He grins, "Yes ma'am."
You smile as you get up and leave the cafe. You could feel his eyes watching you as you left.
